TA needed with TWC?

wondering if its still needed with Time Warner... I had it crap out (stop working) again (for the hundredth time!) and as soon as I unplugged it - the channel came in!

is there an easy way to check.. can I just unplug it and try the channels? TW has 1-100 now and just some odd channels above (mostly just repeats of the same station) and we cant get on demand with tivo (which is now in the 1000's)

anyone know offhand?

Only if you want to receive all the channels you have paid for... sorry.

A lot of posters suggest splitting the cable feed to connect one cable to the TA and one to the TiVo (but not through the TA to the TiVo). That might help clear up issues, if they're right.

Yeah, it just "randomly" craps out. I unplug it for a minute every couple weeks and that seems to help.

My TA does the same thing, it sometimes just randomly stops tuning once or twice a month - but the indicator light remains solid as if it's working. But it's not.

I found this neat little Woods 50008 7-day digital timer and programmed it to shut off for 1 minute every Monday and Friday morning at 9am.

Yep, same here.
A Time Warner cable card service rep, I spoke to, confirmed that the T/A is best if hard rebooted every couple of weeks or more often.

Good one Randy, thanks for including a link.
