Ancient Aliens Season 4 spoilers
I love this show and was hoping others would like to discuss it. I watched all other seasons and it was one show I was going to miss greatly when I ditched the dish. It airs Friday nights now and I think it is on H2. Also, I just discovered I can watch it the most recent episode on history.com
Episodes so far this season have been:
The Mayan Conspiracy
The Doomsday Prophecies
The Greys
Aliens and Mega Disasters

This season and the last one (season 3) haven't been quite as interesting as the first 2 seasons. The episode on mega disasters repeated the info on Dogons and their knowledge of Sirius B.
I recently read Zecharia Sitchin's first book and I would like to see an episode on his study of Sumerian civilization and his theories.

This dude's hairdo cracks me up every time he shows up on the screen. How can anybody take him seriously with hair like that. This show is one of my guilty pleasures. I know it's hogwash but I keep watching it every season.

Can we stop with the thread crapping please? It's pretty childish. If you don't watch the show, fine. Please go add nothing to some other discussion.

I don't watch the show because the ancient aliens things disses all of our ancestors who actually were smart enough to build the pyramids with existing technology and do the big drawings in South America etc.
Thread crap over.

I've watched every episode of this series and whatever other ancient aliens type show that's on tv. I read all of Erich von Daniken's books when I was a kid. Chariots of the Gods was one of the first books I ever bought. Show like this that examine the mysteries of the earth fascinate me but I think it's utter hogwash that the answer these guys give to every mystery is that "Aliens must have done it." I don't think it's thread crapping at all to say so either. As Sieglinde posted, there have been some awfully, awfully smart people in the history of civilization. They figured out how to do what they wanted to do. They didn't need a galaxy hopping scientist to teach them how to build a pyramid. They figured it out even if we still don't know exactly how they did it.

Humans have walked the earth for hundreds of millions of years. Yet there are only 50,000 years between the time of neanderthals and man walking on the moon. If it's just humans figuring things out on their own, why was there no advancement for 100s of millions of years? I know christians believe humans have only been here a few thousand years, but if anything is Hogwash, that is.
I don't know how people can believe that we are the only intelligent species anywhere is this awesomely vast universe.

There's a big difference between thinking that there is other intelligent life somewhere and believing that they came here and built the pyramids...

The Ancient Aliens theory doesn't mean that aliens built the pyramids. It is the theory that even long long long before the Egyptians, a higher intelligence jump started the advancement of humans. Perhaps through genetic engineering. If you watched the show, you could discuss these things.

Close, but no cigar. OK, not even close. Homo sapiens have been around about 200,000 years. If you want to extend the definition of human to include anything of genus Homo, that's still only 2.4 million years.

We are not all the same.
Also, if they came and did all these things in ancient times, where are they now?

You mean how maybe they either caused the great flood or warned ancient man of it's coming?

The theory is that we are their genetic descendants. They are here now because we are them.
If you don't watch the show, or read the research, there really is no point in discussing any of it with you.

Something doesn't need to be probable to be plausible. This leaves my mind open for lots of scenarios. It's a good show...and more than a few of the episodes have left me scratching my chin.

When was their last vist? Are they also responsible for the I-Phone, or even the birth of Justin Bieber? What do they get in return, big bags of pot maybe? Could they not at least deliver our Christmas presents? Are most of them Freemasons? So many questions. I do know that mischievious Alien kids love to make crop circles. It has to be them.

Reading your books isn't necessary to dispute your arguments. I could give you a list of books to read too.

Wait, humans co-existed with the dinosaurs? How'd they survive that mass extinction event some 60 million years ago? I'm behind on my reading.

I read at least two of the von Danikan books and realized he was cherry picking his evidence and his interpretation. (I have seen the plaque with the flying saucers on it when I was in Egypt, who really knows what they were, they could be UFOs doesn't mean the aliens even visited.) There is a cool theory that our jump in computer science came about because of technology captured at Rosswell, NM. So theoretically the iPhone came from ancient aliens. Justin Bieber the Neaderthal genes in Northern Europeans acting up. I still remember that special where the show was supposed to be about the ancient tunnels connecting the pyramids to the Sphinx. It all went well until they mentioned ancient astronauts to Dr. Hawass. Not a patient person at the best of times he really did his best not to blow up but showed his anger that his ancestors could not have done all of this. I also met a Native American who felt the same way about the South American stuff.
