Not sure why it matters but it appears that the Tivo sends out some sort info stream approximately once every 30 seconds.

I don't leave my modem on all the time, was wondering if I would have any problems (nag screen's, dozens of messages a day, etc) with it only having access twice or so a day.

What TiVo do you have? All TiVos have a daily connection that is once a day but this time changes every day. But if you have a Premiere and use the HD UI it would not be wise to disable the internet since a lot of it's features rely on it.
Why would you turn off your modem anyways?

Series 2 DT is why I have adapter, a friend gave it to me when he got a premier (said it won't work with it but does with series 2). Modem not always turned off but more often than not, the whole room is cut off at breaker a lot. I would assume is more than once a day it checks for any updates, I remember reading somewhere replays do every 15 minutes.

As a very connected person with a connected house I can't even imagine this, I have so many devices that ask for near constant connectivity this idea of turning off connectivity is foreign to me.
By doing this you also remove the ability to schedule on the web site and have the Tivo pick up the request.

If you are not using the internet features, you can leave it disconnected for up to two weeks. (Two weeks is the amount of TV programing it keeps) when the Tivo gets down to one or two days of programing it will show a message that it needs to connect.

Only once a day for guide updates. Other checks are for things like web downloads, Amazon VOD requests, etc. So as long as it gets guide updates every few days it will be fine. You can manually force a connection anyways. Other than guide updates (daily connections), no other connections are required to function.

It will not have a complete 14 days in the future. More like 12 days normally. And in many cases, out past a week can have very inaccurate guide data so I would definitely make sure it connects more than every 12-14 days. Otherwise recordings may not work because episode info can be missing or inaccurate until closer to the airing date.

It would need to be on at the "right" time - that is, when the daily update is scheduled. One way around that is to go in when the power is on and force a daily update. You could do that once a week and be ok with the Guide Data.
