Just got my TPXL upgrated from 14.9.2 to 14.9.2.2
Tonight I just got my TPXL upgraded from 14.9.2 to 14.9.2.2 and another of my four TPs upgraded directly to 14.9.2.2 (not the TPXL). On the first upgrade I did not get the out of data massage, on the other upgrade i still got the out of data message. You can now do a remote delete on another TP that has 14.9.2.2.
It is late so I can't say yet if there is any other changes.

Streaming is still not enabled.

No idea what issues there were. I wasn't having any. Or at least I didn't notice them if there were some.

The "out of data" message is a bug going from 14.8 to 14.9xx but that bug has been fixed if you go from 14.9.2 to 14.9.2.2.

Are we sure the out of data message is a bug and not just TiVo wiping the guide data during the update on purpose? (i.e. maybe an attempt to fix corrupt guide data).

Or maybe a reload is required because they changed the layout of the guide data entries?

If it was on purpose it should fetch data after the install instead of warning users they are out of data.

Interesting. I bet this slow rollout DID have some major issues and they are pushing out fixes. What is strange is that I would expect only people with 14.9.2 to get 14.9.2.2. Yet, some postings, above are newly updated people going from 14.8 straight to 14.9.2.2. Maybe TiVo is confident enough with .2.2 to just resume infecting... I mean updating more customers by expanding the rollout again.
Meanwhile, I am, of course, still on 14.8.

Before I did a call home to load the data I checked and all the guide data was in place, went out at least 10 days, its a bug.

I assume I got the update also, as I had the message out of data, did check the guide info and all was there, so I guess it is a glitch, but another issue I just noticed, when I fast forward in 3 times speed and hit the forward button again, it does not stop it, I have to actually hit the plat button to stop the fast forward, you figured that before TIVO would put these updates out they would check them first.

That's an intentional change and one that I really like. Multiple FF presses in rapid succession don't always take properly on the TiVo so before I had to worry about overshooting and starting over, now that is no longer an issue. I always used play to resume normal speed anyway so no change in habit to get used to. Love this change. I understand why others used to the way it was wouldn't like it but I love it and hope it's here to stay. (I guess to really do it properly and satisfy everyone TiVo could have made an option to choose the behavior you want, but TiVo is not big on providing many options).

Just to add another data point:
I received 14.9.2.2 on my Premiere XL early Wednesday morning (was previously on 14.8.x). Got the out-of-data message, which is how I knew it had been updated.
I still have 14.8.x on my standard Premiere -- forced an update this morning, and it finished without any messages for pending restart.

LOL- you must be new to TiVo No, they NEVER issue release notes. We have to play a game with every update to find which of the myriad of bugs and problems might be fixed, if any, and what new things are broken.

Not new to Tivo, but fairly new to the Tivo forums, and I seem to be catching on quick, lol

I am not exactly sure when the software came down to my two Premier units, but it certainly got my attention when I was presented with the infamous “Program info has run out!” message on both units. I didn't take the time to see if I actually had guide data and how far out it went. I just forced a connection to the TiVo Service and decided to call it a day. Yet another present from TiVo software engineering.
Worse still, I have noticed that now when my TiVos present the channel change warning dialog the text no longer has the word “suggestion” in the string, even though the channel change is indeed for a suggestion and not a user programmed recording. This is really annoying because I relied on this text to know rather or not I could tell the TiVo to stay on the current channel and cancel the upcoming suggestion recording.
As if the channel change dialog wasn’t intrusive enough, now it’s even less verbose and thus less useful in making an informed decision on how to dismiss it. But they found time to waste on making the show name and other details display in yellow text to standout for those who can’t be bothered to read a complete sentence or two. The yellow text is not a bad touch, but I guess it came at the cost of the conditional suggestion text. Thanks Tivo for adding something I didn’t really need in place of something I did. If you are going to make other changes how about adding an option to tell the TiVo to only record suggestions while in standby and put the standby option back on the main menu and/or allow a hot key to be set on the remote for standby.

I haven't seen it since the upgrade, but at least in the old version of the text, there's another difference: for scheduled recordings it says "The TiVo needs ...", while for Suggestions it says "The TiVo would like ...". I've actually always gone by that since it comes earlier in the text.

Thanks for pointing this out. I will have to be on the lookout to see if this alternate telltale was preserved or not.

Confirmed: The text "TiVo Box needs to change the channel..." vs. "TiVo Box would like to change the channel..." is still there as differentiation between a scheduled recording and a suggestion. It's subtle, but at least it's something. I do wish they had preserved the other text with the word "suggestion" in it as I found it less cryptic.
