Lead them in a big circle, maintaining enough of a lead to get back in the truck and drive away after Otis gets the goods.

When Shane was quietly opening the door of that police car, I thought he was going to get in and start it up (assuming the keys were in there), turn on the siren and flashers, and drive slowly away, leading the zombies away from the medical trailer while Otis gathered the supplies.

No evidence of any defenses whatsoever. No windows broken or boarded up. No one on watch duty, and no explanation as to why.

OK...fair enough. They could have an orange grove I 'spose. And it's certainly worth risking the zombies to go out and pick oranges to have some fresh-squeezed juice. (or maybe they trained the zombies to pick them)

I don't know... but I suspect this was one of those disconnects between the writers and the set decorators (as was explained in last week's episode thread). Someone in production placed that truck there not thinking that it represented a potential plot point. If they'd just taken the tarp off and shown it as having been inspected at least it wouldn't bother me. Maybe I'm just picky though.

Yeah, Shame and Fat Guy's exit strategy sucked. I guess they used up all the flares. They need to find some automatic weapons to mow the zombies down.
I felt bad for the kid. Five more fragments to go. I also wanted to slap his mother upside her head. She could have been a little more thankful for the doctor's help even if he is a veterinarian. He's the only one there even remotely qualified to help her son.

To be fair, he wasn't there when Glen came up with that idea before, and pulled it off quite well.
Maybe eventually they'll learn to just put Glen in charge. Like bow-ties and fezzes, Glen is cool.

I noticed and wondered about that too. They seemed to be going thru the cars in a sort of haphazard way. And high and mighty Laurie gave that woman a look when she pulled the pretty red sweater out. I'm glad she took the whole suitcase.
I did love that redneck had a stash of drugs!

I began to think the same thing until it reminded me of the correlation between the kid being shot and Rick being shot - which was - I think - the point - and therefore not a filler flashback at all.

Well, yeah, but he still had it. He didn't just toss it out after his bro died.
One thing that flashed thru my head was what exactly would still be "good". Would the medicine and even food go bad in the heat, in the cars?

I certainly wouldn't eat a turkey sandwich if I found one. But a can of beans... sure.
I think medicine would be OK for a few weeks unless it was the kind that required refridgeration.

Did anyone watch "Talking Dead" ? They aired a sneak preview of next week's episode.

I agree. I realize the point behind this one but I really don't think the episode gained anything from having it in.

What? That would have been FAR too logical!!

We are only.. what? 8 episodes into the entire series and my immediate thought to reading this comment was "That's pretty typical Lori though". Pretty sad.

They might degrade a bit but they won't go bad unless exposed to severe heat afaik.

Were they foreshadowing anything when they were unable to find medicine in the vehicles? I thought it was going to turn out that the vet had taken all the meds there. Instead it just seemed like a way to get people to have to go to zombie FEMA land?

I really can't stand Lori. I wish they would just let her get eaten.
She wouldn't let her son have a weapon but she allowed him to wander around in the woods? Really? In a post apocalyptic zombie world, I think allowing your children to have weapons is probably the way to go. Granted, it wouldn't have saved him in this situation but he has been in many situations where it could have helped him.
I wouldn't even mind if they killed off the kids. I don't see how they are going to deal with their aging since the show is moving so slowly in time.
I'm kind of hoping we see the daughter show up as a zombie at some point.

Also, the woman on the horse knew about the big traffic jam, so I wouldn't be surprised if the house family had scavenged from the wrecks. Maybe this will be brought up in the future.

This is what I had been thinking. That the doc/vet house would have them because they had foraged through the cars.

Honestly if these were the 1st 2 episodes I saw of this show, I would delete the season pass.
In other notes: It was picked up for (insert shock face here) 3rd season.

Anyone know if the zombies eventually just rot or dry up and "die"? I would think they would eventually.

I think perhaps the most decayed zombie we've seen to date is the Bicycle Girl zombie from the pilot episode (and the webisodes). She seemed to still have some "life" in her, despite her condition.

Rick is really the bad parent in that situation IMO. When the kid asked if he could go in the woods Rick deferred to Lori. Lori didn't want him to go but told Rick he needed to say no so she wasn't always the bad guy. Rather than telling his son no Rick lets him come along. The exact same thing happens when Rick and Shane stay behind and Rick lets the kid have his way and stay behind. Man up and be a parent, and stop making your wife the "bad" parent in the eyes of your son.

You would think then that by now it would be scavenged clean and not leave a water truck full of bottled water there.
Inconsistencies aside, I just thought the acting was really bad, almost soap opera-ish. Especially the scenes between Rick and Shane in the house.
I also am getting tired of the lack of vision beyond the camera lens. How do you sneak around a bunch of cars then at the last second peak up and see a mob of walkers who obviously didnt just appear there.

Yeah, the zombies this season seem to just magically appear from thin air and be all over the place. That's the second time. Maybe the writers are confusing them with vampires?
