I just transferred a show from my TiVo HD (1TB) to my Premiere (2TB), and I noticed that some metadata is missing or different. The following info is missing from the transferred copy: Part Index, Categories, Color Mode, and Episode Num. The following info is different on the copy: Disk Usage (12.53GB dropped to 12.49GB), Extended? (No changed to Yes), and Similar Programs (several were dropped, but see below).
I transferred because the Premiere had recorded from a different PBS channel, and their guide data was wrong, causing only 2 hours of a 2.5-hour program to be recorded. The metadata for that recording matches what is shown on the TiVo HD, except that the Disk Usage is smaller (of course), and the Similar Programs list matches that of the transferred copy. Maybe the extra Similar Programs shown on the TiVO HD include similarities to some of the many older recordings still stored on it.
These machines are basically computers, so why wouldn't they just copy the data exactly from one to the other? And a loss of 0.04GB (40MB) surely can't be explained by the missing metadata alone. Does anybody know what's going on? Thanks. (BTW, I've checked only a few minutes of the two full recordings, but they appear to begin, play and end identically.)
