30 Rock - 2-24 - "TGS Hates Women"

No thread yet?

I thought this was a great episode for both the Liz and Jack sub plots. Just superb writing all around. There were a few scenes I had to go back and watch over and over again they were so funny and well written.

It actually wasn't my favorite episode, though I do LOVE 30 Rock and even an episode that I'm less fond of gets watched and rewatched.

This episode wasn't my favorite.

30 Rock is probably my favorite comedy and I like every episode, but the whole "sexy baby" routine was really grating. I knew she'd cut it out eventually but . . ugh. I wanted Liz to punch her in the face.

But I'm still using the "graceful transition to spinsterhood" line from last week (or was it two weeks ago). As a single woman around Liz's age, I identified perhaps too closely with that bit.

Me too! And the explanation at the end was weak-why didn't she just tell Liz the truth?

I actually wondered if there was some sort of "meta" thing going on here . . . the name of this episode is "TGS Hates Women" and the "sexy baby" character seemed designed to aggravate female viewers as much as possible. I knew I couldn't be the only one saying "enough already!" She was so awful. And the voice was like nails on a chalkboard.

She reminded me of Sarah Silverman. Anyone else get that vibe?

Yes and Sarah Silverman makes my skin crawl so I noticed immediately.

woo hoo. I"m not the only one who felt that way.

What is he doing in real life that he's unavailable for the show?

Maybe this was shot when he was getting his kidney transplant?

Yes, it was.

Isn't it weird there are two members of the cast who've gotten kidney transplants in the last few years?

As a red blooded heterosexual male, I found it incredibly annoying as well and if I encountered it in real life, I'd probably find it incredibly creepy.

As a result, I thought that this was a horrible episode.

Not even Jack vs. the kid could save it.
(And yes, I got the juxtaposition of having the teenage girl acting more mature than the adult female comedian.)

This show is a lot of punchline joke... It is like watching a traditional stand up comic do their act.

I thought this show was okay, but the person who they had playing the guest girl writer was not good at all and I thought it dragged the show down. Otherwise I thought there were some funny moments.

Still recovering from kidney transplant is my guess.

Be honest, who else got the joke about Liz being there when Lutz "Belvedered"?

I was crying.

HAHA! This just made me laugh harder than the jokes referencing this in the episode for some reason.

I did not. But I feel like I should have.

(Would it be lame if I asked for an explanation?)

Ha ha. Awesome.

For some reason I was thinking it was a call back to something on the show previously. I like the real reason better.

Would love to see the girl from Kick-Ass who was sparring with Alec Baldwin in this episode team up in future episodes with the Will Arnett character Devin Banks to takedown Jack Donahoughy.

My wife and I thought this was the least funny episode of 30 Rock ever. I even checked the credits to see if it as a guest director/writer.

The meta in this episode was in reference to a Jezebel.com critique of the Daily Show and their subsequent hiring of Olivia Munn.
