Amazon Video On Demand SUCKS
For years I have been purchasing videos and other media on Amazon.com and will occasionally re-download it on my Tivo.
Recently, through a series of errors on Amazon's part, they closed my account. I no longer have access to my video library. I have been trying to get it re-opened and they have told me they are unable to open a closed account and they also refuse to refund any money for the purchased videos.
This is obviously not Tivo's fault but something every Tivo user should think about when purchasing via Amazon On Demand.

That is my only hang up with purchasing video from Amazon. I own something they store for me. I want a owned digital copy I can control. That is why I rent from them and only purchase if there is no other option.

I own the Tv shows I purchase, but I only watch them once. That is just the only option. My only real complaint with Amazon VOD is that they seem to use pcm instead of DD. i would rather they not waste the bandwidth by using uncompressed audio.

Personally I've had major issues with the quality of the videos from Amazon On Demand on my TiVo. I had bought Eureka Season 4 last month. Some episodes were so corrupted it would skip a few minutes of the show, others half the screen was full of major artifacting.

Adam,
I have a couple of issues with Amazon's video on demand and they have always been good about resolving the situation. You could try calling a live person at Amazon at (800) 201-7575. Alternatively, you could write to their corporate office and let them know the situation.

Darth,
When I ran into a situation like this, they issued me a credit. Email customer support and let them know what happened.

I've been dealing with them for weeks. They have not been able to do anything to resolve the issue.

That's screwed up. I mostly rent. I only own 1 piece of content. SEason 3 of Breaking Bad. MOstly because it was cheap.
Scary thing is their fine print says you have rights to redownload anytime up to ~90 days. After that it says your rights to redownload may go away for an undefined period depending on licensing agreements.

Finally got it resolved today after the second time dealing with "Executive Customer Relations.". They re-opened the account and I have access again. I wont be making any more digital purchases though.

Glad it was resolved!
Also, as I've used Amazon VOD more this month, the performance and reliability of the service does need to be improved. They do have one of the better offerings in terms of price and options (rent, buy, cost of a show) on the market. I hope they can improve it.

That sucks that it took so long to get resolved. I download pretty regularly from Amazon but mostly TV shows that I only intend to own once even though I "own" the episode. My experience with the Unbox customer support team has been pretty good the few times I've had a problem, always gotten through quickly to a live human that seems to grasp the issue quickly, listens to the trouble shooting steps I've already taken and doesn't make me do them over again, and almost always seems able to resolve my issue pretty quickly.
But even with great customer support I've never been tempted to buy a movie from them with the way the licensing is handled.
