Tivo Offer For Costumers! Not Saving, Pay More Than New Costumers!!

OK here is my question, TIVO have a new promotion for Premiere, you purchase the Premiere at $99.00 and pay one year at 19.00 end of the year that is $99.00 + 239.88= $339.87 this is new costumers or buying the Tivo at $99.99
DEAL for current costumers, pay $0.00 and make two years at 19.99 + tax (forget about the tax just make what you pay) after the two years you finish paying $479.76!!!!!!
479.76 - 339.87 = $139.89 YOU FINISH PAYING 139.89 MORE FOR BE A COSTUMER AND THEN CONTINUE AT 19.99

One has a 1 year contract, and the other has a 2 year contract. Both are available to anyone. I don't see a problem.

Sorry amatheu you got the facts wrong. Both the $99 TiVo and service for 1 yr at 19.95/mo or the free TiVo and service for 2 years at $19.95/mo are available to anyone. Existing TiVo customers general also have several other options.

Thanks,

I wish people would take a little time to breathe when writing posts like this.

Let's try to compare apples to apples, OK?

Option #1:

$99.99 + 1 yr @ $19.99/month + 1 yr @ 12.95/month = $99.99 + $239.88 + $155.40 = $495.27

Option #2:

$0.00 + 2 yrs @ $19.99/month = $0.00 + $479.76 = $479.76

Now you're comparing prices for equal services received: a TiVo Premiere and 2 years of service.

So what's the difference, really?

Option #1 gives you an out at 1 year; if you decide you don't want to continue using it, you don't have to pay anything after the first year. Option #2 means you're committing to the full 2 years of payments.

If you go into Option #1 fully willing to commit to two years of service, you're better off choosing Option #2.

You can also still outright purchase the Premiere through Tivo for $300 (Or $500 for the XL) and just pay the regular $13 a month. Just depends on how long you intend to use the Premiere. Outright buying the regular Premiere it would take about 3 years before you'd start seeing a savings.

No commitment 1 Year Commitment 2 Year Commitment
Purchase $300 $100 $0
1 Year $156 $240 $240
Total $456 $340 $240
2nd Year $612 $580 $480
3rd Year $768 $840 $740

and why does this rate only apply to costume makers rather than customers in other professions?

TiVo has said that once you start with the $19.95/month you must pay that same rate after you contract is up, I don't know if that will be enforced or not but if so than the $12/95 rate is not possible the 2nd year in your example option 1. If the TP is poisoned by TSN for $19.95 for the rest of its life, that would be bad news, both for re-sale and the user. One would never know if a used TP has the poison pill associated with it. Hope TiVo does not do things that way with the TP.

Gotta love how the contract is ambiguous about the "then-current monthly service plan" but I would certainly argue that a monthly service plan is different than the monthly bundle pricing, and thus the $12.95 (or then-current monthly rate) would apply after the initial commitment period on the bundle).

On the TiVo site you can find whatever you want in pricing for the TP, to support I give you for the $99 TiVo and $19.99/month.

Commitment period: 1-year commitment to the TiVo service required after which your service plan will continue at $19.99 per month on a month- to-month basis. After your 1-year commitment ends, you are under no obligation to continue your TiVo service and you may keep the TiVo box.
Early termination fee: If you cancel the TiVo service before your commitment ends, an early termination fee will apply equal to an amount the lesser of (a) the amount of monthly subscription fees remaining on your 1-year monthly subscription commitment or (b) the full retail value of the TiVo box minus the upfront cost of the box, minus the difference between the service bundle plan's monthly fee and $12.95 for each month of your subscription that you fulfilled, except as permitted by the 30-day money back guarantee.

This is the best i can do on the URL https://www3.tivo.com/buytivo/popups...ns_2010_B.html

The only way to control pricing on any TiVo is to have PLS, fun or not. Mystery pricing is as bad as mystery meat.
