Backup/Clone Hard Drive via USB

I have a Series 1 Tivo (actually 2 different models) and would like to be able to backup or clone or upgrade my hard drives. The problem is that I do not have a computer with IDE connections. I do have a universal cable that allows me to interface pretty much any type of hard drive to a USB port. I have not been able to determine if any of the popular SW packages (InstantCake, MFS, Hinsdale, etc.) support communication with a drive connected to a USB port. I am assuming that I can't just use something like EASEUS Todo because the Tivo drives use a different partitioning scheme.

WinMFS works great with my Vantec USB adapter.

I'll check into WinMFS. What is your procedure? I'm assuming that you boot the WinMFS from a CD/DVD drive and have the source drive connected via USB so where does the backup get copied to and how do you get it burned onto the new drive?

WinMFS runs directly in Windows. You backup/restore to/from your computer system drive.

I tried WinMFS (9.3 beta) and was able to do a successful backup using my IDE to USB adapter. I'll still need to try a restore to a new drive but it looks encouraging. Thanks for your help.
