Can the My DVR Extender be added later on?

I'm this close cancelling my Directv for an XL, but I have a question about the My DVR Extender be added way down the line without losing my recordings? Like if the 150 HD hours is enough right now, but a year later I need more and decide to hook that 1TB drive up to it? Thanks.

With a stock Premiere XL, you can add an extender at any time. Removing it will cause you to lose all recording made after connecting it. So the answer is yes you can add it later, and you only lose recordings when you disconnect it.
