Every now and then for the past 3 months I've been waking up in the morning to the Siren sound. (I'm not sure if there's a green screen involved too because my wife is sleeping and I always instantly turn off the TV before a picture appears). I unplug the power from the back and then plug it back in and everything works fine until the next time.
Today I woke up to the siren, turned off the TV, unplugged the TiVo, plugged it back in after 10 seconds, and then turned on the TV. I get the first Powering Up message for about 5 seconds, and then the screen flashes (I think it normally does this) and then goes to a gray screen. It just sits there and does nothing. I tried unplugging twice more and just get this same gray screen. I don't hear the HDDs spinning (although it's kinda loud near the TiVo due to my HTPC) and only the green LED is on. I'm at a loss as to what to do now. No idea if it's HDD failure, or some other problem.
Any ideas? Is my lifetime HD toast?
