Two Tivos - four shows?

I bought a new Tivo Premiere XL recently, and Tivo sent me an offer to get lifetime service on my old Tivo Series 2 (currently sitting in the closet) for $99. What I want to know is: can I hook up the Series 2 in my guest bedroom and have each Tivo act as completely separate entities? I don't need multi-room viewing, but what I would like to do is tape four different SD shows at the same time on the same date. Is this possible?

I don't know anything about your series 2 tivo, but the two units are totally independent of one another. You will need to have an active subscription for both, but the premiere can record 2 shows, and if the series 2 is also a dual tuner, then it too can record two shows. Bear in mind that the series 2 is an analog tuner, so if your cable company transitions to digital service, then that might limit what you can do with it, but the limitation has nothing to do with the fact that you also have an additional premiere unit.

There's no reason that a TiVo in your house would know another TiVo is also recording the same show. Consider it the same as two TVs tuned to the same channel.

Thanks - I just wanted to make sure! I like to watch a bunch of prime time TV, and this past spring on Tuesday nights at 10pm, I wanted to tape shows on NBC, CBS, Fx, and USA all at the same time without trying to look for alternative showings.
