Warehouse 13 - "Around the Bend" 8/10/10

I thought this was a pretty interesting episode until it switched from "internal warehouse strife" to "Pete goes crazy because of an artifact".

I was very amused that they used a stock shot of Boston City Hall for the Chicago field office shot. I need to check, but I believe there was another later stock shot that showed a flyover of Boston instead of Chicago.

I was entertained, but angry Pete is not something I'd enjoy seeing more of.

For those keeping score, Claudia's hair was streaked platinum blonde this week.

This seemed more like first year Torchwood script than Warehouse 13.

When Pete was touching everything in the British museum, I was thinking "What a moron." I'm glad that moron Pete being a moron and a buffoon had very negative consequences. What a moron. I wonder if they've based his character a little on Chuck. Unfortunately, at least for me, he comes across as an unfunny Morgan.

I noticed that as well --it was a big "WTF" moment for me. I don't think the flyover shot (the one that was allegedly "Cleveland") was Boston however -- the building in the middle of the shot resembles the Custom House tower, but it isn't (no clock).

Maybe we should start a contest to see if we can figure out what the producers are using for their "stock setup" shots in each episode.

I'm hoping they use this to change his puerile behavior, but I am doubtful.

How is it Claudia wants to die? I assume it isn't the acid.

I was hoping this as well.

I gave up hope at the end when he was so proud of how hot he was kissing the air in the video.

I liked this episode better when it was called "Shutter Island" and starred Leonardo DiCaprio. But I certainly don't mind looking at Tia Carrere.

The "Cleveland" shot was Cleveland -- I think that's Terminal Tower you're talking about, which was in that shot.

There was a shot identified as "Lakefield, Illinois" with an elevated train going past -- that was definitely Chicago, as opposed to one of the couple of suburbs that the 'L' system extends into.

Well Artie mentioned he had contacts for David Bowie so I'll assume Bowie was a part of her exit strategy.

Was the fact that Pete is a recovering alcoholic something that really was brought up last season, or was that one of those Eureka-style retcon recaps? (retcaps?)

And they're really not shy about shilling those twizzlers, huh? Although, it's still not as hamfisted as Eureka's Degree Anti-Perspirant plugs.

I had the same reaction. But I think we are stuck with his character as is.

I did not remember it either. But then again, it's not like I pay close attention to anything in this show.

The two scenes in the recaps are about all that was said about Pete's alcholism. I hadn't even remembered it until those scenes reminded me. To me, that's a good use of recaps.

I saw the actor who plays Artie in the Toronto airport last month. He was walking alone and looks exactly like he does on the show. He was dressed exactly as on the show and was even carrying a worn leather satchel.

I think I was the only one in the airport that recognized him. I was too shy to go greet him though.

But those scenes really did happen in other episodes? They didn't just newly film them to put into the recap?

I don't remember them at all, but that doesn't mean it hadn't happened.

I didn't remember them either so I'm not convinced that they actually aired before.

I'd probably Google to see if I'm right if I actually cared but after his extremely over the top antics in the museum, I don't care anymore.

I did have a faint glimmer of hope when they were talking about killing off Claudia but alas, it was not to be.

Claudia has grown on me this year. Well, other than her dumb feud with Lena. She's not in my top 10 but I don't wish her a painful death, though. Pete on the other hand... I hope they find an artifact that erases him from the space-time continuum.

They established that Pete was a recovering alcholic in the first episode if I remember right. I have to admit that Claudia and Artie are the only thing that really keeps me coming back to this series. Though I would like to find out more about Mrs Frederic.

This would have been a much better episode if the issue would have been real.

*whew* I am glad that I'm not the only one who doesn't remember a thing about Pete's alcoholism. It made me think I had missed an episode....odd!

A big to seeing Tia Carrere again. She still looks great and I hope they bring her back. In fact I was so pleased to see her that when she got shot in the head I became quite upset ("how DARE they!@##@!"). Of course, I was equally relived when we saw her alive again. I did not realize it was a hallucination so that became the WTF moment for me.

I don't understand...Pete's alcoholism was established in the first episode and he went to an AA meeting in an episode as well.

Tia Carrere is hot.

I think the alcoholism in "Flash Forward" erased my memory of it from this show! Ack!

I, too, had zero recollection of Pete's problem...I assumed it was a retcon...

Yep, that was actually downtown Cleveland. I'm not sure why they chose it, but it made me sit up and take notice.

Pete needs to start hitting the bottle again if being sober makes him such a simpleton.
