New problem with CC\TA\SDV\Cox

I have a new issue with my Tivo HD on Cox with a CableCard, I have called Cox and Tivo......they are "looking into it"

I live in Sierra Vista, AZ, Cox's first market to go "all digital", you need a box or a CableCard just to get basic service here.

I have 2 Tivo HD's with CableCards installed and do not get all the channels I subscribe to. I have had Cox at my house several times and made many calls to technical support.

Everyone at Cox says they do not have tuning adapters in Sierra Vista because we are all digital, and that "those channels are just never going to come in with a CableCard because they are SDV"

At one point just for the heck of it, I let one of the technical people send me a tuning adapter because he insisted I needed it. I hooked it up and could not get it to initialize, called tech support, they re-sent the signal several times......nothing. They sent a tech out and the first thing out of his mouth was "why did they send you that? We don't need those here"

So a call to Tivo tech support comfirmed they had never heard of this either, and would call Cox to see what's going on.

I guess I'm just curious if anyone else who's systems have gone all digital has had these issues, or if anyone can offer advice on where to go from here.

I know Cox is required by the FCC to provide CableCards, but does the same hold true for tuning adapters if they use SDV?

Thanks in advance.

According to the Cox channel lineup for your area, there are no channels that are SDV, so you should not need a Tuning Adapter.

http://ww2.cox.com/wcm/en/residentia...avistaarea.pdf

Which channels are on this list that don't come in for you? If the lineup document is accurate, nothing is marked with an asterisk, which on the Phoenix lineup corresponds to SDV.

I might suggest going to a Cox store and picking up a basic HD set top box and see if all the channels you are supposed to receive come in with that or not. Maybe it is just an issue with your account.

When you have a TiVo, your account has two separate sets of authorizations, and both sets must be exactly identical (Cox's term is "balanced") for all of your channels to come in on both tuners.

Local Cox called me yesterday and said they want to come over and "try" a tuning adapter again because their national people are telling them that the channels I'm missing are indeed SDV, even though no SDV is supposed to be being used in Sierra Vista.

He brought the only tuning adapter in Sierra Vista (probably the one I returned several weeks ago) over last night and hooked it up.......nothing.
After about an hour on the phone with his people telling them what the lights on the front of the tuning adapter were doing, it finally went solid green. A few minutes later the missing channels were coming in with the exception of one.

It was one of the Technician supervisors that came over, and he said they were never supposed to implement SDV in Sierra Vista because it was all digital, and that he was going to a meeting in Tucson this morning and was going to bring it up to them. He said he was either going to get them to "turn it back off" or he would "come back with a truckload of tuning adapters".

Either way he would let me know.
