Alex is automatically in the bottom 3 because of his injury.
Billy is in the bottom 3... WOW dialidol totally bombed unless SYTYCD is fibbing.
Lauren is safe.
Kent is safe.
Jose is safe.
Robert is safe.
AdéChiké is safe.
Ashley is in the bottom 3.

Mia apologized to AdéChiké for being too harsh to him last night.

Solo time

Billy - pretty solid solo.
Ashley - I thought she did a nice job.

My guess is if they know for sure Alex is severely injured he will be cut tonight.

Natasha Bedingfield performs.

Alex's MRI showed the results are a lacerated Achilles tendon meaning it detached from the bone and needs surgery. He has to rest 3 months. Surgery has a 80% success rate. Alex is out of this years competition. He's invited back next year.

Ashley and Billy are safe.

I would have been sorry to see any of the 3 of them go, but I'm so sorry to not be able to watch Alex dance some more. Well, maybe next year, if he's recovered enough for it and doesn't get another job he can't get out of.

Zhao Hongbo (the pairs figure skater) came back from an injury to his Achilles tendon and won an Olympic Gold Medal, so we can hppe....

Wishing Alex a complete recovery.

P.S. for what it's worth: Wikipedia says: " Depending on the severity of the injury, recovery from an Achilles injury can take up to 12–16 months."

It's easy to see how the injury happened. Again, wikipedia: "Partial and full Achilles tendon ruptures are most likely to occur in sports requiring sudden eccentric stretching, such as sprinting."

I have to give AdéChiké some props -- he had to take over, in a limited time frame, the part Alex's choreography where Alex got injured. NOT an easy task, especially since Nakul had obviously given the really difficult highlight move to Alex.

The next question is, when Nigel says they will invite Alex back next season, at what point do they insert him into the competition - Vegas week, or straight through to Hollywood?

The question after that is, considering the problems this show has had recently, will there even be a "next season"? (My answer: yes, considering it gets much better ratings than pretty much anything else Fox could show during the summer, and even if Fox didn't renew the series, somebody else (even if it's just a cable station) probably would.)

I can't seem to get into the SYTYCD predictions over there. What did they say were the results?
