Netflix TV suggestions
Looking for suggestions for TV shows that are available for streaming on Netflix. We recently discovered Party Down and Archer and have been really enjoying those, but are going to be done with both pretty quick it looks like.
Other shows that we watched and enjoyed through Netflix:
Skins
IT Crowd
Weeds
Dexter
Spartacus
Browsing through the new TV section on Netflix and it seems that 90% are Barney like cartoons. Hoping others here might have found a few diamonds that might have slipped by us.

Not sure if it's your cup of tea or not but I highly recommend Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

Streaming or DVD?
TV shows I've liked that are available streaming include
The Office (BBC) (goes away 7/16)
Chef!
Penn & Teller BS (although a little goes a long way)
Fawlty Towers
Arrested Development
Weeds
Black Adder
The Vicar of Dibley
The Riches
http://www.instantwatcher.com is a quick way to browse the Netflix streaming catalog and add titles to your queue. It also tells you when a title is set to disappear.
Not really TV, but Dr Horrible's Singalong Blog is a kick.

I just finished watching "The English Surgeon". It's not a tv show but a documentary produced by BBC-TV. Excellent! About an English neurosurgeon donating his time and talents to the Ukraine's brain tumor sufferers.

Looks like Veronica Mars is available; that's very good.

Thanks. Some very good suggestions. Unfortunately I've seen a lot of these already, but I've added Chef! and The Vicar of Dibley to the instant queue. Also thanks for the Instantwatcher suggestion, definitely easier to browse through the collection there than doing the same on Netflix.

Lst night I found the first season (4 episodes, anyway) of Maverick via the Starz Play section of Netflix. James Garner had his disarming charm polished in 1957. Also, in the first of the episodes, a kindly barmaid who could have been the prototype for Joanie Stubbs.

The Rockford Files and Bret Maverick (an updated Maverick series in 1981) are also available for streaming for fans of Garner.
If you like British sitcoms, Good Neighbors was an excellent one and all seasons are available for streaming.

I just finished watching "Kidnapped" (Jeremy Sisto, Delroy Lindo, Dana Delany, and Timothy Hutton) this weekend. I'd seen about half of the season when it was on the air (FOX, I think).
Next up is Season 1 of Leverage....also Timothy Hutton.

Kidnapped was an NBC debacle. I really liked that show but that one and Journeyman got short shrift from NBC. Now they're not even a major network as far as I'm concerned.

It was NBC? Actually, that makes sense, since Jeremy Sisto and Linus Roache both ended up on Law and Order.

Lots of good stuff on streaming. Torchwood for instance; UK urban scifi, loosely related to Dr. Who but distinctly, ahem, grown-up.
The Dresden Files (hardboiled Chicago detective wizard ) is a good one if you haven't read the books (or don't mind them changing things around).
Plus some big names like The Shield...
On DVD of course there's even more stuff.

I'll have to try that, though at first glance I find it more confusing than Netflix's interface. What makes a compelling alternative?

http://www.netflix.com/NewWatchInstantlyRSS
Almost every "Burn in Hell Fox!" show is available for WI.

Thanks for this! I've been thinking of joining netflix and the lack of availability info until after you join was a problem.

FYI: This info is for streaming availability. The Starz titles disappear after awhile.
I'm not sure if the info appears on Netflix anywhere, but maybe they're getting it from a Starz database.

How do they know when a title is set to disappear (and how reliable are they with this info)? It says all of Lost is going away next month, and I'm going to be in big trouble if that's true (almost set to finish up season two, but I've agreed to wait for my wife to catch up, and she's only about a third of the way through season one).

Doc Martin has just been added for streaming. It's an excellent British sitcom. Think Northern Exposure set in Cornwall. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doc_Martin Or, Sheldon of The Big Bang as a British doctor.

Californication
Dead Like Me
Brotherhood (as good as The Sopranos for me)
The Shield
Futurama
Wire in the Blood
Rescue Me
MI-5
IFC's Greg the Bunny
Reno 911!
30 Rock
Upright Citizens Brigade
This should be enough to keep anyone busy. :-)
