Entourage "Stunted" (6/27/10) *SPOILERS*
Okay, Tuesday after the season opener and nobody has started a thread?
One problem with naming an ep "Stunted" is that you're setting your critics up with a ready-made tag line.
It was a decent ep. Not a great one. Lloyd is becoming more of a whiney drag as opposed to a comedy spark as in seasons past.
And what's the point of setting up a premise that Vinnie would do the stunt himself, and then not follow through with it? They could have done a green screen mock up at least as good as the one in Terminator Salvation where Connor "flies" the chopper.
We'll see how it goes from here.

For a season opening, it sure didn't lay down any storylines that would hold my interest for a season. Will Turtle will get slapped with a sex harassment suit? Will Ari will negelct his family while trying to grow the agency? Will Drama have a hard time finding more acting work? Who cares?

I thought Season 6 was really weak overall especially the ending.
Season 5 ending was really good, and I'm beginning to think that they should have ended the show then. If the writers are creative enough I'll finish season 7.

Totally boring except for the last 2 minutes. Seems like thats what the writers want.

What do you mean? Vince did do the stunt.
Are you saying you wanted Adrien Grenier to do the stunt and film it for the episode? I imagine there is no way the studio would let that happen.

They could have made it look like an actual stunt was being done, but then again the show has a long history of making whatever Vince does onset look pretty silly.

If you would reread my post, you'd see that I proposed a way for it to look like Vince did it without actually putting him in harm's way.

I was kind of bored. And the ending was really weird. The way Vince was acting I kept waiting for him to pass out or find something was bleeding. Then it just ended. Also, when did Turtle start his own business?

I really think this has become the show I still watch for the longest period of time after it has become unwatchable.
I watched it Sunday night, but it is so worthless. I read a good review of it in EW. Nothing has changed in this show since the first day it has been on. They are little stuck in the same exact place.
So many chances do to so much with this backdrop and instead we have the same old nonsense that is tired and boring.
I could never imagine that a tv show about the behind the scenes life of a young playboy movie star and his entourage could be more boring than my own life, but this is by miles.
I will watch it until the plug is pulled, but the show really sucks now. Now I just like to think about the meta world of Vince being a good actor when he can't really act in real life and has to play someone that is supposedly a good actor in a tv show about being an actor who may or may not be good.
I was kind of happy to think Turtle had something going on, but then it just devolved back into the same kind of nonsense. This show should have evolved hundreds of miles from where it was.. It could have gotten crazy ridiculous. Instead there is nothing. Ari is not even entertaining any longer.

Vince, the character, did the stunt.
I think what you mean is, you wanted the actor who plays Vince to actually, in real real life, have done the stunt. I don't think that's necessary to the storyline.
And this is another example of the "show within the show" problem. That was a super lame stunt. Are we supposed to suspend our disbelief and think it was good, or do the characters (at least some of them) realize how lame it was?
How big a star is Vincent Chase supposed to be, that Ari can't make time for Jessica Simpson but can devote his entire day to Vince?
Did I notice that the only names in the credits now are the core 4, Jeremy Piven, and the guy who plays Lloyd? Ari's wife was in the main credits last year. If she's not this year, that's a clue to where her storyline might go.

That's what I was saying earlier...any time we see Vince do anything onscreen (i.e., when he's making a movie on the show), it's hyper-lame. I don't know if it's a stylistic choice, a meta-commentary on Hollywood, or just crappy film-making...

Perrey Reeves was listed in the opening credits.

Like The Simpsons, as long as they make 'em, I'll watch 'em. But would it kill them to make this show fun & interesting to watch?

I guess I wasn't clear in my original post. Since the premise was that Vince was doing the stunt, they could have put Grenier into a mock-up car on a shaker gimbal, thrown up a green screen behind him, put a camera into Cassavetes' POV and it would look as if Vince (Grenier) actually made the jump.
And no actors would have harmed in the process.

I think you might be overestimating the importance of Jessica Simpson.
Either that, or your watch is about 6 years slow.
