Tivo G adapter and N router.

Had a linksys G router for a while now working with the G adapter and my Series 2. Had to replace the router yesterday and went ahead and bought an N router (linksys e1000). I currently have it set in G mode only. Would it still work if I put it in N mode? I do not have any other N devices BTW. Would there be any advantage?

The other question and it's not exactly tivo related but on my old G router I had it set up to be on Mixed mode and it showed wireless channel 6 - 2.437GHz. On the new router when I choose mixed it only says 20MHz or 40MHz as choices. Is that normal? I know that in general terms GHz is better than MHz so I want to make sure I've got it at the proper settings.

If you have no other N devices, I believe setting it to G-only should provide the best performance (setting it to N may not decrease performance, but it won't increase it). N is backwards compatible with G, so as long as you don't set it to some kind of N-only setting it will work fine.

As for the other settings, the number in the GHz range (called the carrier frequency) is like the radio/tv station number. The other number is would be equivalent to being able to received one or two stations at a time (it is generally called the bandwidth). I believe that G only uses 1 20MHz channel, thus the setting does nothing. N on the other hand can use two channels effectively bonded together to increase speeds. Since you are using G, it really shouldn't matter here as this won't change your speeds. Just as long as it is working, yours seems to be setup just fine.
