I just read that Sanctuary cost 21million for the first season. that's still well over 1million per episode.

I also saw that SG1 cost around 2 million an epsiode it's last season and SGU is supposed to cost more than that. Although I don't know how accurate those numebrs are.

But all that sounds like alot for a non major network show.

Either way, I've certainly enjoyed the second half of the first season for SGU. although I still miss Stargate Atlantis. i hope they can still do a movie for SGA and another SG1 movie too.

I will certainly make sure I buy them on Blu-ray Disc.

Yeah, I thought the whole point of CGI was that it was a cheaper alternative to building sets.

CGI can be done cheaply if you either don't care about quality (Syfy movie of the week or Merlin) or don't care about how long it takes. Good CGI done "quickly" isn't cheap.

Sets are expensive to build, but they can be re-used (assuming you have a building to house them) so it would be cheaper in the long run. Granted you can also re-use CGI shots but it's not the same.
