Help: Option to buy TiVO Premiere or get HD XL for points.

Some advice needed. Finally leaving DTV. I told them they weren't getting me away from my TiVos and now the time has come where I needed to make a choice.

So, I now need two TiVos that work with Comcast.

Here are the options:

I have enough AMEX points to get two HD XLs through their program. Will burn 1600,000 points total for both ($800 value) and I won't have to lay out the cash.

OR

I could buy through the upgrade program at TiVo.com and get two TiVo Premieres for $800 total. I'd have to lay out the cash though.

OR

I could split the difference and get one of each.

Obviously I'd like to use the points. Please post your opinions on whether the Premiere's are worth using the cash or am I better off with paying points for the XLs and waiting for a future upgrade offer.

Thanks!

Can you really get the HD XL from Amex since they aren't being made anymore and the channel is pretty much empty? You might order the HD and get the premiere instead since they are the same price or less. Just a thought.

Interesting thought.

The Amex program says it will be shipped from one of the following
Tigerdirect.com or CircuitCity.com
Both their sites say- while supplies last.

Can't tell you how to spend your points, but if it were 'me' then I would take advantage of the upgrade offer out of pocket and save your points for something else that you want. If you used your points then you would basically be throwing away the money that you would save if you had taken advantage of the upgrade.

Otherwise, TiVo is advertising that the new DirecTV TiVo will be out sometime this year. If you like DirecTV then waiting might be an option too.
