M Card on a Series 3 with SDV adaptor?

Sorry if this has been answered, but I need a quick answer and don't have time to search! The cablevision guy is at my house now doing my install... he says I only need one M card in my S3 because it will use a SDV adaptor. Can this be true? I thought the S3 doesn't support M cards!

Thanks for any help!

The original S3's with the OLED display can only use S-cards. The TivoHD and TivoHD-XL can use M-cards.

Not quite right. The original S3 can use M-cards, but it needs 2 of them. The HD and HD XL only need one.

Thanks, that's what I thought... I have a THD that's going to get a single M card. The S3 will have to get two cards I guess. The guy must have been confused (no surprise there) and thought that the SDV adaptor makes a difference.

Sigh. The damn installer left and then I had no picture. So now they sent a new tech out. And man these SDV adapters are huge. I feel like I should have stayed with Fios

Why leave FiOS for SDV?

Plus with FiOS there are zero restrictions on recorded content. I can transfer anything I record from FiOS to another tiVo or to TiVo Desktop.

Yup, I had it and left. Don't get me wrong, I liked Fios tremendously, but the cost was getting too high. It cost about $150 a month for everything except HBO and Cinemax, with 20/5 internet. But a couple promos on my account were set to expire soon so my bill would be about $175 a month. Then cablevision came to my door, offered me everything Fios offered, plus 35/5 internet (with a static IP) for about $108 a month for 2 years (no contract, just a guaranteed rate). I'm not so concerned with the copying restrictions (haven't encountered them yet) because I really don't move stuff around too much.
