Big Bang Theory: The Psychic Vortex 1-11-10
I really enjoyed this episode.
Sheldon and Raj at the mixer was great. Having them find a girl that knew who the Green Lantern was (and there are a few of us out there) and could connect to Sheldon in that way worked. The only thing that would have made it better was in the end if she came to the room not for the implied sex but rather to see his comic collection or something not sex related.
Penny and Leonard and Howard and Bernadette. I am not quite sure about the double dating things. It has sort of broken up a nice group but it is also what happens in real life.
Question- what is with Johnny Galecki and his always wearing a jacket or hoodie or something even when he is inside the apartment. Does he have some wild tattoos or such? I find it odd to see everyone in teeshirts and he is in three layers of clothing.

I agree, enjoyed the episode...
My pet peeve is Galecki and the fact his glasses have no lenses, it was bad enough on SD, but it's blatant in HD, folks have used fake lenses for decades.

You can say that again.
I guess I really am a geek - I have Flatland on my iPod Kindle reader.
Enjoyable episode. If the power went out in the laundry room, Penny was ready with her headlights.

My favorite lines were, "have you decided which one you want to copulate with?" at the mixer and "we scored!" while playing Rock Band.

Waiter: "How is everything?"
Bernadette: "...really uncomfortable..."
I dunno, this episode missed some of the chemistry for me. But I, and I'm sure many here, sympathized with Leonard about the psychic thing. I've had that same argument many times... why should someone who really believes in that crap expect anything other than ridicule? Sure, the nice thing to do is shut up, and I've learned to do that... it's still hard.

Is Sheldon asexual or does he just feel evolved human beings shouldn't concern themselves with the vestigial encumberence of being horny. It would have been more Sheldon-like for him to direct the girl to Leonard's bedroom rather than to give up his own.
I know it's sacrilege in BBT-land but Bernadette has been hotter than Penny the last two EPs.

I think she actually has a phd or master's degree, so it's appropriate that she'd be on the show.
Edit: No, BA in math.

I was in agreement with you up until we learned of Bernadette's unfortunate tendancy for base inflation.

She also has a pretty low Erdős–Bacon number, so that makes her a good fit as well.

In regards to the lensless glasses thing it may be a choice production chose to make so they would not have to worry about the light reflection off of the glasses.

Wait... the glasses have no lenses in them at all? Like, I can poke him in the eye through his glasses?
I thought y'all were complaining that the lenses were obviously just plain clear glass (i.e.: non-vision altering).
Wow... that's just odd. I'll have to look for that next time.

Yeah, that would be a deal-breaker for me. Even if she looked like Penny.

I think for Sheldon to be horny, he would actually have to know what he is missing. I personally would have loved it if she had just thrown herself on him and then watch his reactions. But then that could be another show all together.

Am I missing some kind of deadpan Nordic humor ruined by smilies?
Overall, loved the episode. Well Raj's part. Sheldon is becoming an over-the-top caricature.

Nope.
I just couldn't put up with that level of idiocy. Not even a little.

At the end, I felt sad for Sheldon instead of thinking it was funny.

 Well, that's open-minded of you.
I don't always believe or agree with the same things that my lovers or friends do. But people are all different. It's not very interesting to only associate with people who are exactly like you.

So of all Penny's quirks and things she is diametrically opposed with Leonard (and, by extension, most of the guys here) on, psychics would push someone over the edge?!?
<Spock voice> Fascinating. </Spock voice>
Personally, it totally fits Penny.

I did too. Parsons' character is obviously a virgin and he has no clue how to act around women. And that chick was practically throwing herself at him.
EDIT: in giving it more thought, I wonder if Chuck Lorre purposely wrote it that way. Seeing as how in his other sitcom (Half Men), the main characters are either always talking about "doing it" or actually doing it.

It's not a matter of being exactly like me. It's a matter of being borderline rational. And believing in psychics is far, far from borderline rational. It's wildly irrational, and indicative of a belief system that renders intelligent conversation impossible.
And I value intelligent conversation far too much to have any kind of relationship with somebody for whom it is impossible.

I could put up with it just to bang her once or twice, but I certainly wouldn't want to have a relationship with someone like that.

What's the deal with Sheldon and sex? Is that your question? I think they discussed it in pretty funny detail on an earlier episode:
Penny: What's Sheldon's deal? That is, of course, provided that Sheldon has a deal.
Leonard: We've discussed this at long length. Walowitz thinks he blah blah blah, while Raj believes that he blah blah blah. I suggested that he might blah blah blah. We finally agreed that he will eat a lot of food and then spontaneously divide into two.
Well, that's the best that I could remember.
