TiVo HD network issues

I have two HD units. Both are hard wired to my router (Dlink).
The first one works just the way I would expect (on my network). I use filtering by MAC address and DHCP so I expect the machine to connect to the router and the router will issue the IP address (that I reserved for it).

All of that works perfectly on my first TiVo HD. But my new machine will not connect to the network as long as I use access filtering. But if I disable filtering the machine connects properly.

Then if I disable access controls everything works (with less security that I would like) but the TiVo's will not transfer files between each other. I can however touch both of them with my PC.

I'm sure I have overlooked some simple setting (although I comed the TiVo network settings carefully.

Any ideas?

Depending on newness, the problem with transferring between TiVos may just be time. It takes a couple of days for all the settings on a new TiVo to get to all your other TiVos. My guess is that TiVo is now downloading the TSNs of all your TiVos to each of your other TiVos, for access control. Thus your old TiVos have to get the needed info from tivo.com on their calls in. Combined with delays on TiVo's end in getting the info onto the proper server, it can take 2-3 days.

I don't know of any general TiVo problems that would result in your network access filtering problems. If you take the old TiVo off the router (remove its settings), and just have the new TiVo on, does it work?
