Ok, I'm ready for shows to start up again...

My 2 tuner DVR in livingroom has been empty since before Christmas. What I have recorded, I've watched pretty much live. I've even tried the Amazon download to my series 2 Tivo ( Hangover) was a crappy picture had to turn the brightness on my TV all the way up and it was still dark. Still enjoyed it.

I know this downtime happens every year, but I guess this year my recordings were fewer than years past, I usually have enough to get me through these 2-4 weeks.

Bring on Jack and Chuck!!!

There's also that Human Target series on FOX.

I vaguely remember a Human Target comic book by DC in the 70s or 80s.

I believe the Human Target series is supposed to be based on that comic book.

It looks like they threw out everything but the name. The main point of the comic that the main character disguises himself like the person he was protecting.

Next week is the easiest part of the Tivo year. If the show says 2010, it's new. 2009 it's old. Makes it easy to figure out what's a repeat for at least a month or so.

I am ready for it to start again myself. I had a surgery in early December that really knocked out a lot of it and then Christmas break.

Both my TiVo HD and DirecTV HD DVR are empty. I even deleted a few Season Passes off my TiVo HD (Cleveland Show, Mercy and Scrubs).

Though I still have been stuck on 24 S3 E2 for the longest time ... maybe I should start that up again.

My dvr is full but not much stuff to watch.

I have been watching a ton of documentaries and such lately. I think I have seen 50 hours of prison documentaries in the last two weeks.

My wife and I have had to rent several movies over the last week or so. I'm definitely ready for the shows to return.

Sadly, my wife and I are looking forward to the new season of The Bachelor. I noticed in the guide data for the premiere that there was an HD tag. I tweeted Chris harrison and mentioned that and the frakkin' "coming up next on the bachelor" editing style. His direct response to me was "you'll be happy, it's all changing this season."

Here's to (hopefully) watching bikini-clad catfighting in HD!!!!!!

We're still catching up on shows we recorded in November! Don't need new shows to start just yet.

I've still got several shows to catch up on, but they're shows my wife doesn't watch with me, so I have to find time to watch them after she goes to bed. It will be a long time before I get caught up.

As for stuff we watch together, we're about out. We've got one more episode of Friday Night Lights and then I think that's it until new stuff starts up. Maybe we'll be able to cut into the giant backlog of movies I've rented and ripped thanks to the free Redbox codes.

We've been watching a ton of Xmas shows. I still have a few that I want to watch. I've also discovered Pawn Stars and I'm really enjoying that. Finally watched WWII in HD which was outstanding. Have a few Ganglands recorded that I enjoy.

So it hasn't been a total waste. I'm really excited about LOST coming back soon, though!

I always use this time to catch up on Movies I have accumlated throughout the fall. Still got a bunch more to go. I also might finally try and finish up S2 and S3 of Dexter which I can pull down from Netflix.

The front display on my S3 has been dark for DAYS now. I'm ready for emerge from the "Dark Times" too. This time of year sucks for TV. I've seen every documentary on Unbox and most all of the Romantic Comedies made in 2008/2009.

You got a thing for prison?

I agree, I think TV died or something. I got nuthin' to watch. What am I supposed to do? Read? Play with kids? Talk to wife?

Yikes.

I could still use some more time but don't really need it. MY THD RD folder went from around 60 near Thanksgiving to 125 now. Stuff is getting cleaned out but I still have tons of other stuff across 3 Tivos to keep me occupied.

Not for one more week, please.

By that time I will have my new TivoHD up and running.

I'm not quite done yet (just finished 3 episodes of heroes last night).

See, I know from experience that christmas time is a dark time for television watching, especially in these dark ages.

So, I let my tivo fill up before the holidays (instead leaning more heavily on netflix and video gaming to keep me occupied).

I might just make it out of this with my sanity intact.

Actually, a bunch (in the tens) are like ~10 minute clips that I "edited" by moving between two Tivos.

But I actually do watch them in batches... I record them to my non-Tivo recorder and watch a full ep in ~30 minutes. I have semi-seriously thought about just recording the audio and listening to them on my iPhone, similar to podcasts. I think it would mostly work.. relatively few visual jokes.

Plus, if he quits or keels over, I'll have a bunch to watch.
