Can't get rid of the VBI line and it's driving me nuts!!!

I purchased the premium version of Tivo to Go(version 2.8). I have been using it to transfer files from my Tivo to my PC. When I play the files in "Windows Media Player" it works fine and there is no problem.

However, when I use Video Redo to convert the file to an mpeg format the VBI line shows up!! This is extremely annoying!!

Is there some simple way to correct this? I have been told that the premium version of Tivo to Go strips out the VBI line but in my case that is not true.

Any suggestions? I know that one "work around" solution is to find a player which will crop off the top few lines. However, the VBI lines are still part of the file you just cannot see them. I would prefer something which removes the VBI line from the file altogether.

Ideas?

Many thanks!

TC

The premium version of TiVoToGo only strips the VBI line when playing .tivo files in Windows Media Player.

If all you want to do is open the files, edit out the commercials, and then save them in a format you can play in Windows Media Player. Then all you need to do is save the files from VideoReDo in .tivo format. This will trick Tivo Desktop Plus into playing the file just like a regular TiVo file with the VBI line removed.

If you want to be able to play the files in other players, convert them to H.264, etc... then you'll have to recode the video and crop the VBI line off. The only way to currently do this in VideoReDo is to create a DVD. However you can author a DVD to a folder and then use the Open title from DVD feature to reopen it and then save it as a standard .mpg.

Or if your a registered user of TVSuite you should try PMing Pat (user phd) over on our forums and asking to get into our v4 beta. The new version allows you to output directly to transcoded MPEG-2 or H.264, complete with cropping, right from the main save dialog. No need to use the DVD workaround.
