talk about sth in Grey's Anatomy

there's a thing in Grey's Anatomy seasons make me doubt very much. Can doctors chatting, chasing girls while they r in a operation? I dun know how it works in reality. if it like this, i will never do any operation.

While I was having something done under local anesthesia, the doctors performing the operation did send someone out to order some pizza delivered. Which was really kinda annoying, because I was getting pretty hungry at the time because they were behind schedule, and it was past lunch. They timed it pretty well too, because right about when they were done, someone came back from the front desk wondering what idiot it was ordering a pizza .
