Three Rivers - 11/15/09 - The Luckiest Man

Wow. A super episode written by Dr. Lance Gentile, who has been involved in a lot of medical shows in the past. Also, some of the best acting I've ever seen from Mandy Patinkin. Very emotional.

Overall, the episode was a great twist from the standard fatal accident --> grieving family of brain dead victim --> last minute dramatic transplant stories we've seen in previous weeks.

While I liked the story, it seemed like this was the "Get Mandy a guest star Emmy" episode. The show is good, but I don't see it standing out much from other medical dramas outside of the fancy gadgetry. I can see myself getting bored with the show quickly.

Emmy-bait episode, they must be taking notes from Law&Order: SVU

Well it is sweeps, and this show is getting killed in the ratings, so I give them for this episode. Mandy was really good.

And I was sort of happy that Kohl? ( is that his name) didn't get his heart. I hope he sticks around longer.

I don't care if this was Emmy or Sweeps related I thought Mandy was amazing in this episode. It got a bit dusty in my house that night and it gave a great perspective in life. I am very glad I watched this episode shortly after it aired.

I quit watching the show. Having been an in-patient guest of a hospital several times (cancer sucks) this year, the absurdity of the gadgetry is insulting. I just can't get past it.

As somebody who donated a kidney, I watch it for advocacy reasons.
I agree there are lots of items that are far from the truth but I would like to give them a chance to at least improve it versus saying there is no market.
