Hdvr2 With 240 Hours

I just purchased a HDVR2 with 240 Hours capacity on Ebay. Works fine. However, when I go to the System Info screen is says the capacity is "up to 32 hours" which is what you get with a standard series 2 like my current DSR7000. Have I been cheated, or does it still say 32 even if its 240 hours? Unit appears original with unbroken seal, so I haven't opened it up yet to read the drive label.

You'll find other posts here about this. That eBay ad is a lie. Some sellers keep re-using the same bogus description. Contact the seller because you've been misled.

It's eBay's fault, not really the seller's (other than not catching eBay's error.) I reported it to eBay and they sent me a form response indicating that they did not read the complaint.

Many Ebay listers of HDVR2 units include a picture of the backplate. What should the backplate say if the unit has a higher original capacity (240 hours say) as opposed to the standard 32 hours? It looks like the standard unit just says HDVR2.

I'm pretty sure ALL HDVR2 units shipped with 40 GB hard drives. If a larger hard drive is installed - the backplate wouldn't reflect the larger drive.

Some of the other Standard Definition series 2 DirecTivo models shipped with 80 or 120 GB drives.

There never were any 240-hr HDVR2 Tivos.

The sellers are using canned product descriptions provided by eBay when they enter the model number. The description and title (also supplied by eBay) are wrong. Note that the description also lists hours in HD, which the HDVR2 definitely does not support.

eBay disclaims responsibility for these descriptions and says it is up to the seller to vouch for their accuracy.
