can you send a differen signal into the cable coax port
of the HD/Cable unit?
Like have a ATSC SD Digital converer box hooked to it and just tell it to recoed that channel a a given time?
or even a Sat siginal that changes channel on its own for (record VCR) like Direct tv reminder and record that?

No. The TivoHD only requires from its built-in tuners. It is not an analog capture device. It will not record the output from another box.

The Tivo S3/HD/XL has tuners that are analog (NTSC) and digital (ATSC), so it does not work with other converter boxes whether for over the air or cable, nor is it needed. Satellite will not work either, but the Series 2 does work here.
