Amazing Race 10/18 *spoliers inside*
I'm glad I checked on the football game & saw it had gone into overtime so I was able to record the whole thing.
I'm glad Lance did poorly enough in his task & then got lost to get them eliminated.
I really liked the teams helping each other.
Wow. I just watched the preview for next week. Did he really try to throw her down the waterslide?

Hurray.
Dubai is very interesting to see on TV, though I am not sure if I'd want to visit the place myself.
Couldn't believe the idiots asking for tickets to "Persian Gulf."

I thought this was a good episode. I like it when you really get a feel for the place.

I'd like two tickets to Earth, please.
Well, some of these teams need that...
Good episode, overall, though I don't remember the last time they had two "needle in a haystack"-potential events (the mini snowmen in the Ski Dubai snow, and looking for the water in the desert).
Definitely glad that Lance has left, though he seemed more self-deprecating when he realized he screwed up (some of it seemed a bit martyr-tinged, tho).
And they seem well-adjusted enough to not let this show derail their pending marriage...and besides, there's all those non-refundable deposits.

ElJay, I was there in the early 1990's for about a month. For being in the desert Dubai, and the rest of the UAE, is pretty impressive. I can only imagine it is even more impressive now. That country doesn't have anything but money.

Glad that I won't be seeing Lance anymore. The Harlem Globetrotters are still my favorite. Poker girls can go home next week.

Although I wasn't a fan of Lance and Keri before this episode, I thought they were very tolerable in Dubai. Perhaps they knew how far behind they were and had just resigned themselves to their fate, but I really expected them to be much less civilized under those circumstances.
I would have loved to do the FF task. I'm jealous of Cheyne. And did he actually bring a blow dryer with him? How does he get his hair to do that?
So Tiffany and Maria had to wait for a backup car and still were among the first teams to arrive at Ski Dubai? How is that even possible. Did they have the backup car waiting in the same parking lot where they ran over that stake? Maria was pretty funny with her line about having an excuse because she's both female and Asian.
Mika: How do you volunteer to go on The Amazing Race if you're too freakin' afraid to do anything and incapable of actually trying? "I can't sled?" Seriously?
I'm surprised so many teams initially chose the "find a snowman" task. Haven't they ever watched the show?
Based on the previews:

In past season previews the producers often have one of those teasers with a team member afraid to do something. Last season it was the black girl who couldn't swim. I'm sure there have been others involving heights and water etc.
In the true spirit of cliffhangers serials at the movies they always find a way to get it done.

I did some work there for 6 weeks in 2007. It is very, very impressive. Lots to see and do. We took a helicopter ride over the Islands of the World, which was spectacular. It would definitely be an expensive vacation, though.

Glad Lance got eliminated. Really disliked them.
I'm liking Team Zebra more. I'm still rooting for Meghen and Cheyne, though, since they are from San Diego (as am I).
I'm enjoying Dubai...

Thank goodness the Meathead Lawyer is finally gone.
Now if we can just get rid of the annoying poker girls. The rest of the teams are all more or less likable, although Mika is pushing it. Don't go on the The Amazing Race if you aren't willing to do things that you've never done or that frighten you.

I guess I'm in the minority - I like the Poker Girls. But, they've been skating on thin ice since the start. They're not stepping up like that they need to. You're not going to win the race if you're always at the back of the pack.

The next time I'm going out in the woods, I think I'll leave my Audi crossover vehicle home.
Happy to see the meathead lawyer gone.
I'm always surprised to see how pervasive the English language is - "The Dubai Mall" ?

Yeah this wasn't a great ad for Audi. Little metal pole 1, Audi zero. I'm really trying to figure out how it got past the bumper and into the radiator. I guess the height of it must have been just right.
Speaking of which, we haven't seen anybody trying to shift a transmission or put gas in a diesel car lately. The teams have had it easy this season so far.

Yes, there are a number of traditional "American" malls in Bahrain too. We visited a Radio Shack in one!

The Ski Dubai attraction is attached to The Mall of the Emirates, which, at the time of it's construction a few years ago, was one of the largest malls in the world.
However, The Dubai Mall, which is attached to the Burj Dubai complex, has been built more recently and it now holds the title of the largest mall in the world.

Now that the bicep and his girl are gone, I'd be happy to see any of the remaining teams win. In particular I can root for the Globetrotters who seem like genuinely nice guys and Team Zebra.
I also don't hate the poker girls and I'd love to see an all girl team finally win TAR. That's something long overdue.

SOOOOO happy that Lance is finally gone!!!
Team Zebra are really nice people and seem to be smarter than some of the others (she knew immediately where the tallest building in the world is).
The gay brothers and poker girls alliance is good - the girls definitely need someone to help them.
I agree with all the others that Mika should never have volunteered for this show - unless she had never watch previous shows to see all the crazy things that they might have to do.
The Globetrotters are an excellent team - great attitudes!
I really love this show!

The ironic thing about that is that black skin an evolutionary protection from the sun. She should be better able to withstand the heat than her white husband.

Seems to me that in every episode Lawyer guy and his girlfriend got lost. Glad they're gone. I agree with Mike that they probably accepted that they were coming in last and decided to make a point of presenting themselves well.
Last week I spoke with a woman here who had tried out for TAR and told me they ask you to list things you're afraid of. Hmm. Should you or shouldn't you? They also asked if there are any countries you will not visit. The interview was mostly the producers pointing the camera a the "team" and letting them just talk for quite a while.

FYI to non west-coasters.
www.twitter.com/cbstweet usually gives you the late starts.
Like so.
