Lauren Graham to replace Maura Tierney in NBC's Parenthood?
Helen Hunt was initially in talks, but it appears she dropped out and show runner Jason Katims (also exec. producer of Friday Night Lights) offered Lauren Graham the role. I'd love to see this. I was really disappointed when her development deal with them went belly up after the writers' strike.
The latest reports have the show premiering after the 2010 Winter Olympics in February.

I think right now, if you walked in off the street and had a passable audition, they'd probably cast you in this series, if it meant that it would get it in production and on the air.
NBC is hurting for good "reserve" shows to throw on the air for when a series gets canceled... almost as much as CW is.

Good to hear. I didn't have much interest in the show with Maura Tierney, but with Lauren Graham I might check it out.

I just read the other day why Maura Tierney had to drop out (breast cancer). I hope she recovers quickly.

Not a big Lauren Graham fan, and I was already concerned the series would taint the memory of the excellent movie. So I'll probably pass on the series, unless I hear incredibly rave reviews.

Thanks for ruining my joke. 
True, her interaction with Lisa (i.e., Maura Tierney) was more trying to befriend her than anything else. I don't remember her wanting to get rid of Dave; she did succeed at firing Matthew, but, of course, not actually "getting rid" of him.
