I'll be tuning in. Any word on if Carano had to strip down to nothing again to make weight?
Or maybe more importantly, any video???

No they'll just fight at catch-weight since Carano is her own weigh-class.

I will be watching, but also I just posted this in season pass alerts. Spike and UFC are running parts of UFC 100 at 10 pm EST 8/15 to compete against the card. It isn't in the guide yet but is supposed to show some of the fights that the PPV didn't air.

Carano looks in better shape than she has for a long time. Cyborgs' abs embarrass me and most other men.

I turned it off after the first exchange. Don't care to see man on woman violence. Oh well, Carano is hot and Cyborg is ugly, and really that's all that matters.

Melendez vs. Ishida was pretty one sided - no surprise in the outcome after watching the fight progree. Melendez looked in a different league and I look forward to seeing him fight Josh.
The fight I was looking forward to seeing was Gegard Mousasi vs. Babalu. Gegard is a beast and he looked so relaxed and them wow, did he ever finish the fight quick. Babalu is no easy win and he made it look so easy. I want to see him Fight in the UFC where the real talent is.
Carano vs. Cyborg - I don't enjoy seeing the women fight as much as the men but she is also a beast, they fight 10 rimes and I see her e=winning all ten without any difficulty. One thing with the women is they don't the punchers chance like the men do and I don't see Gina ever tagging Cyborg and being able to stop the fight with a solid punch.

There is also a big gap between the production of this card and a typical UFC fight. The announcers were pretty weak and not entertaining at all. I wished they had showed some of the undercard fights - they had to have had some extra time with all the early stoppages.

Agreed. I was really impressed with Gina's skills against submissions. Her powering out of both the Kimura and leg lock were thrilling and totally unexpected for me. As if the weigh-in pics weren't proof enough , she had a great camp.
I think the difference was Gina's 10 month layoff. If she had taken live punches even 5-6 months ago (in an actual fight, I mean), I think she would have stood a better chance against Cyborg's volume. At least that's how it seemed to me.
Weird to say this about a 1 rounder, but this fight totally lived up to the hype. I hope to see a rematch eventually.
As far as the announcing team, yeah, that Mauro dude has got to go.

I couldn't disagree more. I found this fight to be lacking immensely. Of course, its the same problem I have with most MMA events, the fights end way too prematurely.

My biggest issue with the Strikeforce events is the same as I had for EliteXC---all the time spent on the entrances. I would rather just see the fights, not 10 minutes of the fighters walking in like some kind of rock star...,

I did find it rather disapointing that the ref didn't think Gina could last 1 more second until the round ended.
Seriously she was at risk of being critically injured or knocked out in that last second? Why couldn't they have just let it go to round 2, or at least check on her after the round ended?

I like to believe that the refs' stoppages are unrelated to the bell. They should make the same decisions whether there's one second left or 4 minutes left.

Good point, but I can still be disapointed by it.
I pretty much agreed though that Gina had basically given up, she wasn't trying to get out that's for sure.
Still just 1 more second! heh

considering that it took her about 30 seconds to get off the mat the stoppage was good IMO. i thought they could have stopped it a few seconds sooner.

i don't think the refs keep track of the time left do they? aren't they focused on the fighters/what's going on with them and not the time? I doubt he had any clue how much time was left in the round, to any degree of accuracy... plus, his primary duty in the ring is to protect the fighters and make sure it's a clean fight, no? having a fighter go another round isn't in the job description i'd imagine.

There is no such thing as a great 1 round fight.
