Scrubs - "My Finale" - 5-6-09
That was amazing.
This is my all time favorite show. I was completely on board with bringing it back next season with the reduced/different cast. Not now. It needs to go out on that, it was perfect.

I loved JD's dream about what would happen in the future. Sarah looked very beautiful as a bride...

I've missed a LOT of scrubs over the years but enjoyed it when I could catch it. Tonight was a GREAT ending. One question though, I know scrubs is in syndication on a few channels now, is it running IN ORDER on any of them?

Perfect finale. Absolutely no reason to continue the show in any way, shape or form.

That was awesome. It was the perfect wrap up. Anything after that will be anticlimactic.

He moved to a town 37 miles away to be closer to his son. Then he took a job at St. Vincent's hospital in that town. If you misse the new ep they showed last night (Tuesday), you wouldn't know that.

Great finale.
Just the right combination of humor and sentimentality.
I have to admit that I laughed out loud when JD tricked Dr. Cox into that little tribute speech.

Perfect episode!
As much as I love Scrubs, I have absolutely no desire to see it continue. It's run its course, and it's over.

Hey, I liked Michael Jordan with the Wizards. He traded us Rip Hamilton.
Oh, you mean for fans of anyone other than the Pistons? Yeah, that sucked.

Seeing all the recurring minor characters in JD's walkout was a great last episode moment. But where the hell was Doug Murphy?
I'm satisfied. Have no interest in seeing this show continue/resurrect in any form.

When the plot of the show ended with nearly 10 minutes left, I thought to myself, "Man, that's pretty pathetic that they couldn't even write enough show to fill the full hour." But the behind the scenes stuff at the end was the best part of the episode for me.

I have loved this show from day 1. I enjoyed the finale, but I guess I am not as overwhelmed by it as most posts here seem to be.
I thought they made interesting choices. The whole picturing the future thing leaves it pretty open to interpretation as to whether that is what is going to happen or what he hopes will happen. If this is indeed the end we can lean towards the former, if the show goes on and we continue to see these characters in some way or another, then it could go either way.
I loved what they did with Dr. Cox. It was very true to his character throughout in that he was very closed off emotionally, but eventually the hard outer layer cracks and you see how he feels.
Count me among those willing to give a new version of Scrubs a chance, but I find it difficult to believe that it will get enough of an audience without many of the familiar players to have it not end badly.

I don't think we know enough about ABCs plans to continue the series with a different cast to decide if it's necessarily a bad thing. Why can't that same Scrubs style of humor mixed with poignant moments that we grew to love with the current cast translate into new characters with different stories?
In fact that was the theme of the last few episodes: Life goes on through gradual changes as some people move on and other stay behind. Why not reflect that in the show?
Star Trek continued after its original run, and while some people will argue it had its up and downs over its 40 year history, as a whole, it was a good thing that they continued the franchise.
If people are really sad about their favorite characters leaving and don't want to be reminded of them when they watch new characters in old, familiar environments, then you don't have to watch the new show.

More like an hour and a half round trip. If you stop for blueberry's even longer.
I have been a Scrubs fan from the begining and if I haven't seen every eposide is has to be close. Although I liked what they did in the final and I was thrilled that they got another year to go out like they did. I thought the show as a hole has not been as good this year or even a little bit last year. I can't really tell you why. It just didn't have the same comedy/drama mix maybe. That being said, one of my favs of all time!

I can't put my finger on it either... Just not the same. Scrubs used to get watched almost "live" and I noticed that while I was thrilled ABC was picking it up, I still let the episodes linger in the folder much longer than I used to. That being said, this season on ABC is much better than the last season on NBC (?). I too would be happy if this were "it" for the series. Let it die a dignified death. I guess we'll see... Having said that, if it comes back strong I'll be all over it. I just don't see how they can make this formula work with a different cast without it seeming like a cheap parody of itself.

I loved the ending but I noticed more the people missing;
Brendan Frazier
Michael J. Fox
Courtney Cox
Julianna Margulies
Who else was missing?

The fact that you remembered them is exactly the reason they weren't available for the finale - they're well known, busy, working actors who have other commitments.

No, and he was only mentioned, not present, in the last brain trust meeting. I assume there was some timing on contract issue involved, because Doug was a pretty big character for a while.
Adding to the list, here are a few more multiple-episode recurring characters who could have been in JD's stroll down memory hallway:
-- Kylie (Chyrstee Pharris) -- JD's girlfiend who breaks up with him because of Molly)
-- Sean (Scott Foley). even though he is with Kim
-- Julie (Heather Locklear)
-- Harvey Corman (Richard Kind)
-- Troy the cafeteria guy (Joe Rose) -- or was he there?
-- Paul Flowers (Rick Shroeder)
-- Melody (Keri Russel)
If they wanted to dip more into single-episode guests (like Colin Hay), they could have also brought out Dick van Dyke, Molly Shannon, or lots of others. Even in weaker years, Scrubs was very good at guest appearances.
