Do you just read/post for shows you watch?
Question crossed my mind...(obviously I have too much time on my hands...I AM semi-retired, after all)...
Do you just read and post in threads for TV shows you watch? Or do you read/post in other threads, too? Just wonderin'....

Do you mean in Now Playing? You're asking if people who don't watch, say, Grey's Anatomy post in one of the episode threads?
Why would anyone do that? That thread discusses the episode and if they haven't seen it, I can't imagine that the discussion would be meaningful or interesting. And they have nothing to contribute, either. What's the point?

Vast majority shows I watched (and vast majority of those only shows I have *already* watched, e.g. spoiler episode threads)..
but once in a while I'll tread into a thread about some show I don't watch (esp if it has actor(s) I liked from other shows).

I will occasionally read a thread about an episode of a show I don't/didn't watch. One example would be the thread about the ER series finale. I watched ER the first few seasons, but not since. Nonetheless, I was a bit curious to the reaction of those who saw the end, so I read the thread for a bit.

I'm pretty similar. I'll VERY occasionally drop in on a thread on a show I don't watch... but that maybe happens so little it's statistically irrelevant.

I would have to agree with mattack, Zevida & LoadStar. Primarily just read threads of shows I watch, occasionally check other threads. I'm pretty much browsing exclusively in TV Show Talk. Don't visit the other forums here with any regularity whatsoever.

If a particular thread gets very large and has a lot of interest I will often go in to see what the fuss is all about. I've found some of my favorite new shows that way. If people are talking about it, I figure it might be something I'd like to watch too. I don't usually post until after I've seen the ep though.

I have only posted for shows I watch, but I will read some threads on other shows. I cancelled my SP for SNL over a year ago and I still read the threads to see if the show has gotten any better.

There are a couple of shows such as American Idol, Celebrity Apprentice and Desperate Housewives that I don't watch, but my wife does. I'll occasionally read the threads for those shows so I can intelligently discuss what's going on when my wife is watching. I'll often read the thread for SNL to help me determine if I want to watch the episode that my SP recorded.
However, it's rare for me to post in a thread about a show I don't watch (I do occasionally in the AI threads, but it's usually about something unrelated to the specific episode and more about the show in general).

My wife has a set of shows she watches while I'm in the room but doing other things, so I sort of half-watch them. Sometimes I'll glance at a thread if I happened to have noticed the episode more than usual. (Supernatural's a good example of that.)

I usually post for shows I watch, but I will on occassion visit a thread for other shows, usually to decide if I want to watch, or if there's some pop culture thing going on. Sometimes to just make fun of those dorks who DO watch that show J/K

Yes, that's what I mean. And that's exactly my point. It seems that some folks (though admittedly not many I don't believe) seem to post in threads of shows they never or rarely watch.

Exactly...in my case, I watched the first ep of FNL, didn't care for it, so I didn't keep watching it. But I saw the buzz here. So I picked up on a marathon over the holidays that year (I think Christmas '06), loved it and have watched ever since (#1 on my SP list).

Pretty much what everyone else said, though I'll throw in a twist:
One show I watch faithfully but rarely go into the threads about it - Lost. Which is a shame because there's lots of good info, theories, etc.
But I just can't stand the endless smeeking - it drives me crazy so I stay out. The "I can't be bothered to read 100 posts but I'll go ahead and post my own pearls of wisdom" attitude really irks me.

Well sure, if there is a tip about an actress guesting I like, or nudity especially, I sure will be thanking the poster. I might not have noticed Dollhouse, Victoria Mars, etc.
I seldom post in some threads I like, such as Lost, because my memory is so much less than theses people, saying yes we saw an actress here in year 1 just before the second commercial, in the crowd, you know the April 3rd 2006 show??? I just don't recall every scene in a show 3-5 years ago, but they do. But I read all those.

I agree that Lost is one that I faithfully watch, but rarely post and only occasionally read. Pretty much because it's SO long by the time I get watch the ep and get to the thread (usually not until Thursday or Friday). And also because it's so detailed.

I might look at a thread for a show I don't watch if it's new and I'm curious what the reception was. If it's overwhelmingly positive, I might consider trying it out.

Actually the episode aired on April 5, 2006, not April 3, and it was part of Season 2, not Season 1.

If there's a show a don't watch because I don't like it, I'll go into the threads for that show just to post threadcraps.
