Account Closed

On my Tivo unit with direct TV, I get the menu structure from DirectV. I do not get a picture. I see both Sat and both 94-96. On the system iformation screen, it states acount closed; however, I have verified, with DirectTV that the account is in good stanting and the card is active. My other units do not say account closed. DirectTV could not figure it out. Anyone with any suggestions?

Unplug for one minute and then plug the power back in will often (but not always) fix "odd" problems

Just about like restarting a Windoze computer

Go into Messages and Settings->System Information and see if it is reading your card number. Making sure the reader is working.

Take the card out blow some air in it. Reinsert the card ,reboot.

If that does not work ask for a rehit on that unit

Failure to read the card, aside from dust getting into the reader, or the chip in the card itself actually going bad, could also indicate the power supply is dying.

This seems to be a fairly common early symptom of bad capacitors on the supply. Search through the forums here for "power supply bad capacitor".

I had a similar problem with my HR10-250 (see my thread in that section of the forum) and discovered the two bad capacitors so I replaced the power supply last week and that seems to have fixed the problem.

I have now changed the power supply. Everything seams to be firing up fine; however, the account status still says: Account closed. When I go to the guide and pick a channel, it says DVR service not active. I have called DirectTV. They say the reason for the message is the system has not made a successful call into the DVR service. I have called the service, including different numbers. Each time it indicates a successful call. Everything is up except the picture. All the menus, times, guides etc. Service message #81.

Sounds like the motherboard or the card is bad, The card will cost you $20.00 from Directv. The motherboard can be fixed by CCS corp for $100.00 The choice is yours. I would try Directv first. http://www.ccscorporation.net/dss.htm

I received a motherboard with the power supply. I can change the motherboard, but if the card or some issue with DirecTV that has nothing to do with the motherboard how will I know.

Try the Card first, its the cheapest, then have the motherboard fixed, that is what I suggest.

I had a very similar issue on a Samsung DVR(4040). After many call and "hits", I finally asked for a new card. I struck up a conversation with the guy and he sent it to me for free. Fixed the problem too!
