Partial 0:00?

I have 2 Series 2 Boxes. One is a Phillips DSR708 and the other a Samsung Sir-S4080R. The Samsung has been upgraded with a larger drive and the Phillips is stock. Both of the units have 6.4a software.

Lately I've been getting recordings on both saying Partial 0:00 and nothing is recorded. Now, the Phillips I cannot say, but the Samsung unit was tuned to the correct channel recording "Eleventh Hour" and the channel was coming in fine, I just elected to watch something else at the time. I tuned to the channel and it was displaying fine, so I know it wasn't anything to do with the channel not coming in. Any thoughts on what it might be.

I originally had issues with 6.3e with the rebooting and when it upgraded(finally) to 6.3f( at least I think it was f) everything straightened out fine. I don't know when 6.4a came to be though. But these 0:00 recording started within the past 2 weeks.

Do a reboot by pulling the plug for 30s and then plug it back in.

I had this symptom, along with some other indications of bad sectors on the disk. I would say to try the kickstart procedures (google tivo kickstart or search this site for kickstart), and use the menu option under the settings menu for restarts if you can get into the menus rather than pulling the plug since you need to do some disk diags and don't want to make it any worse. Don't let the green screen frighten you, it's supposed to do that. I ran kickstart 56 I think, and I haven't had this problem in a while.

Sometimes I lose picture on all channels except OTA on one of my HR10's. Then, if something was scheduled to record on one of those channels, the record light would stay on for the duration of the program, but would show as partial 0.00 in the info screen.

A simple reboot takes care of this. Happens to me about once a month and only on the one machine that has 6.4a with one sat input active.

We've had quite a few of these occur over the last year or so. We have noticed that it's always on a local spotbeam station. It seems to happen most frequently on our Fox channel.

I believe this is a widespread problem, and that it's referred to as something else around here, but I don't remember what or where.
