It's Here! DTV Only in some markets!
All of our local stations are going DTV only today, even though the date was pushed back to June. Don't forget to check your stations today!

http://www.rabbitears.info/dtr.php (and the links from this page) will tell when stations are scheduled to drop their analog signals.

The author of the site states in red lettering near the top of the page that he isn't currently keeping that page current but provides a link to his post on the AVSForum. Are you saying the link to this post/thread isn't accurate? http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...postcount=2527

Thanks for the headsup. I'll stop suggesting that site as a source of current information.

Still http://www.rabbitears.info can be a useful site, though.
Following the link I saw for the first time that a non-CBS digital host for TVGOS is now available in Canada for the first time!

That site is only as useful as volunteers can gather data and update it. The author used to update it all by himself and could keep up with it. When the delay happened, stations were changing their minds so fast (either because they wanted to change their minds of the FCC changed their minds for them) that it was impossible to keep it up to date. The author is willing to accept updated data to be posted on the page. I'm been working on keeping OH and MI up to date - so if you see an inaccuracy for a station in those two states, please let me know.
Part of the latest challenge is the FCC allowed stations to just email the FCC with a change of mind - which doesn't show up in the FCC's database - where we get our info.
Don't blame the author of the web page for out of date info - blame congress for changing things at the last minute.

And this is just more confusion for the confused. I'm glad the government decided to delay things.

I thought the extension also carried a provision that one analog station in each market must remain on the air until June to provide news and hazardous weather access for viewers who were not yet ready for all digital?
The stations were supposed to decide amongst themselves who would be the one to stay on.

In some markets at least one station will offer emergency info on the analog channel for now, but not regular programming. This whole process has been bungled by the politicians.

Yeah, no kidding. I'm trying to find out if my local ABC affiliate will shut off tonight, because they are switching channels, which means I might have to do a rescan or something... but I can't find any info as to when they will switch. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
This would have been so much easier if they had all just gone ahead and done it today, or decided on a rolling shutoff much earlier. I guarantee that those who are not prepared today won't be prepared in 4 months either.

I'm in a bind... I re-scanned my channels and for some reason, it re-detected 3 of my channels (10-1, 10-2, and 10-3) again because I guess they moved frequencies???? I see WGEM-DT but no program guide data. I figgured I'd see guide data by now. Do I have to wait up to 24 hours, do I have to submit this to TiVo? I'm a bit confused... Any thoughts? BTW, this is with a TiVo HD Unit...

Re-scanning will not help unless you are going to setup some manual recordings on the new channel. Until Tribune updates the guide data, the new frequencies will be listed as to be announced.

Ok, so that answered my question I think. So about how long does that take I wonder...

any idea how quickly they update the data? i'm in the same boat. we've got one station that owns ABC, CBS and FOX here in central va. they went from 1 digital and 3 analog to 3 digital transmitters today. as such, all the guide data is still up to date on their "dark" channels, and every working feed says "TBA". the OTA guide data seems to be working, b/c my TV is pulling in all the up-to-date info. but as i understand it, the TiVoHD can't pull in that feed, can it?

TiVo only uses the Tribune guide data that it downloads. It doesn't use the guide info in the PSIP data of the channel. So until Tribune fixes these ota frequencies, these channels will be without guide data.

Uggh. The worst part is that people like me, who act as the tech adviser for friends/family/neighbors/customers/coworkers, have a lot of work cut out for them over the half assed transition period.

Do what I am doing - get divorced and start a new family that doesn't have those kinds of expectations.

I did.
Local FOX in Pittsburgh shut off normal programming on analog station at 11:59 p.m. and began airing generic videos on the DTV transition and how to buy and connected the converter boxes. They alternated between English and Spanish programs every ten minutes. I'm sure that both of the Spanish speaking households here appreciated that.

I believe it hurt more to push the deadline back. It confused things more than they were...

They changed the date at nearly the last moment which let the stations switch off willy nilly. Now we have stations that switched already, stations that will wait until the last moment to switch and stations that will switch sometime in the middle. Its a terrible mess.

Our local NBC affiliate moved its DT signal from temporary channel 59 down to its former as-of-last-night analog frequency on channel 13. It was like an exorcism trying to get my TiVo HD to forget about 13.1 on RF 59. Of course, that's the one that has all the guide data; "new" 13.1 on RF 13 is "to be announced," as stated elsewhere. I hadn't considered that the underlying frequency would screw up the guide data mapping like that. It recognizes both as WHO-DT, yet it thinks they're different. Hope it snaps back into shape very soon. Can't wait to do this again when 3 channels change in June.
