Series 1 Sony download problems

I have recently encountered a number of issues with my Sony SVR2000. My last successful download was on 2/4/09 and even though the guide data shows up and I can select items to record, my season pass selections are not being scheduled to record. When I check the to do list, it shows that there are no upcoming episodes.

In addition, since my last good download, every attempt as ended in one of the following results:

"service not available"
"failed while loading series"
and occasionally "call interrupted"

My TiVo is an SVR2000 with Lifetime Subscription. I am running a hard-wired LAN connection using the ,#401 dial in. The TiVo's fixed ip shows up on my router ip table and I can see on the router that it is actively sending and receiving data. I have been using this setup for many years with virtually no problems until now.

What I'm wondering, is if this is a unique problem I am having or is there some greater issues with S1 TiVo's? I have ead several posts about similar issues, but none seemed to provide any solutions. A few even hinted at a TiVo conspiracy to shed the burden of S1 boxes.

Is there any basis to this? It seems that TiVo has made a pretty clear commitment when they sold something called "lifetime".

Any advice is most appredcaited.

Cheers!

Greg

PS: another little quirk on my TiVo is a menu option "Watch The Onion, Now on TiVocast" As we all know, S1 boxes don't support Tivocast, yet this has been on my menu since Tivocast was introduced, even though it doesn't do anything...

This thread has many other Series 1 owners with similar problems.

Have you modified your Series 1 at all? If you have telnet access to the box, deleting the log files seems to help.
