Tivo HD New Cablevision CC

I first posted in the sticky, but didn't get a response - so I figured I'd copy here...

I am making the switch to Cablevision after many years of Directv with Tivo. I purchased 2 new HD Tivos.

I hope the guy they send is good, you all have made me paranoid at the CC installation and setup.

One question, I have read in the threads but want to be clear - It is best to set up the Tivos before the guy arrives. I can't hook it up to anything for a picture, but I can get the wireless connection hooked up to my network prior to him coming. This will activate and update the Tivo software. Will it allow me to go through guided setup without anything plugged into any of the inputs?

Is that correct? And is there anything else I should do prior to him coming...other than crossing my fingers?

yes set it up now and connect to TiVo until you get software version 11, the software on their now does not get along with cablevision cablecards, my guy had to come back 2 hours later cuz I didnt have the latest TiVo software.

Yes, you can complete guided set up with no cable TV feed. I did exactly as you did. I was a DirecTv customer so I had no cable feed to my house. I performed guided set up and even got all of the software updated before Cablevision came to install. Obviously the TiVo will give an error message on every channel because of no signal.
I even went ahead and set up my Wishlists. You can set up Season Passes too, but be aware you can only set them up for the SD channels until you get the cable cards.

Thanks! Where are you? I am in NJ.

Was he able to get it setup pretty easily? You use M cards? Was there any issue with the dates on them - or am I over thinking this?

I hate to be so overcritical, but I have been through this crap sooooo many times in so many circimstances - cable, satellite, DSL, verizon...the list goes on.

THANKS

Morris County here, was pretty smooth actually, the only hangup was on my end, not having TiVo up to date. After that was done, he took I dunno 15 minutes maybe even less and I was good to go. Used 1 Multicard.

I had CV (Middlesex, NJ) do a CC install when I received my TiVo.
You may want to request a tech that has already done CC installs for TiVo.
The first guy who showed up only brought 1 Mcard and had never seen a TiVo before, he could not get the premium channels to work. After the second guy couldn't get the premiums to work, I asked for the Supervisor (very nice guy, Dan) who sent a very experienced tech.
He installed 2 scards and worked with the office to get the CC bytes proper and the cards authorized.
Worked perfectly since (6 months).

Thanks.

Just called, spoke to a "supervisor" who added that into the comments, that he is installing CC's into HD Tivos.

I am still so skeptical that they will actually get this done.

Just wanted to say for the record. Thanks.

So - Everything went great. They gut the sent was amazing. Very knowledgeable - I was surprised.

All worked well until http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=376153

But that I cannot blame on Cablevision. Thumbs Up! They did a great job.

Now - Tivo - please fix my freezing problems...
