Burn Notice 1/22/09 "Do No Harm"
I love this show -
even if it seems to have a formula down, the cliffhangers are pretty much empty and the main Burn Notice plot is seemingly going nowhere
- i kindof laughed that they ended the last episode with a car chase into the blow up only to go immediately back into another car chase...
still - the writing is witty and love all the main characters and enjoy every episode just for the pure fun. highly entertaining...

yeah, always a good hour of fun. Plus Tricia Helfer in Burn Notice > Tricia Helfer in BSG. Anyone with a sound/audio background comment on using an ambulance siren as an echo locator? It sounds plausable , but the accuracy would not seem to be precise ?

I can't imagine anyone complaining about Tricia Helfer breaking into their place.
I remember that one of the cities here in the Bay Area (East Palo Alto maybe?) put up a system with microphones in strategic locations to try and find the location of guns being fired. Not sure how it worked out.

Seems to me it would work exactly as it did, if you accept the sheer blind luck of happening to drive down the right street during the phone call. The Doppler shift of the siren would pinpoint exactly when the ambulance drove past the house.

They do that here in Minneapolis, but it's a different principle. They have sensitive microphones on lightpoles throughout the area, and a computer calculates from the relative volume of the sound of the shot at different mics where it must have come from.

For as big as that blast was, apparently Michael only needed a new front door.
Still a fun show...although we wish Fi would be recast. We can't stand her.

Well, they said it was a "shaped" charged.

So, I would guess the blast was directed "out" the front door and at who ever opened the door from the outside.

Was there always that balcony?
Fiona losing it was amusing, if a bit plot-heavy. They really did push the thing about screwing with kids as being lowest-of-the-low pretty hard though. It's not like none of Michael's previous cases have involved really deplorable people.

as i sat here eating my bag of chips i thought wow, she could use an entire pallet of them. Next thing you know she will be on one of those feed the children infomercials. And she must have spent her life in the sun. I dont know her age but if she is below 40 id be surprised.
The nightclub must have strong walls so yes, only needed a new door
and WHY when he just had his place rigged wasnt he more careful every time he went in it? Or at least put something in place to tell if it was tampered with.
nice to see an SS in the show since i drive one (and miss driving in the past 2 weeks with all this ice) Funny how the guy kept the doors locked on it all the time..comedic.

She'll be 39 next month. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000270/
I agree she appears anorexic, but great legs!

Great episode! Loved the car door locks. I was worried when it went straight from attempted murder to help the poor SOB. It was ignoring the main story which is why was he burned. It got back on track when Michael quit running and got in the car. Now he has a new focus. Not who burned him but who is trying to kill him. Which I am hoping will lead back to why he was burned.

What gets me is it seems that whoever tried to blow him up was likely doing it because he was helping the beee-itch who burned him, who was up to no good. So this unknown entity could very well be a good guy, relatively speaking.

I like her ok. I think she fits the role really well. I just wish she could fight better. She fights like a girl. Better send that girl a burger. Maybe even a cheeseburger.

I thought the scence of Fiona playing army men with the kid was great. I thought Fiona's fight scene was terrible. Even though she's five foot nuthin' and ninety-six lbs, she's supposed to be a bad ass and should be able to kick some miscellaneous scammer's butt with minimal effort.
I guess they didn't get paid for this job?

Ditto on this. I liked Fi playing as she would know how - by explaining the weapons. And she can't beat up another woman even though she kicks ass allover big beefier guys?
Michael is still Hawt! and Bruce Campbell is great!!!

I'm assuming Michael took enough out of the score to cover expenses...cell phones, damage to Sam's Buick, etc. This still would have left more than what was needed for the Arizona clinic.

I agree, note that he said "There's a little extra in there" IMHO "a little extra" < "twice what we agreed on"

I was confused by one thing. Toward the end, the BAD GUY(tm) was running out of her nice house that they found using the ambulance. She threw her bag in the car and got in, giving the impression that she was OUT OF THERE, since her location had been discovered. Are we to believe that she was taking off and leaving the half million still in the house? Shouldn't THAT have been placed in the car first, or been in her luggage? I did NOT get the impression that she was going back for it.
Quite the game, "who talks first"!

When they were in the doctor's office at the beginning of the show, there was a nurse or someone that the camera kept showing us. She seemed to be rather nervous during the whole scheme to get the con artist's attention with the fake miracle drugs. I don't remember seeing her after that point. What was up with her?

She was supposed to just tell the enforcer about Fi.
I'm glad that I'm not the only person who loves this show It's definitely not the best show on TV, but it's by far one of the most entertaining. I think it has more replay value than a show like Lost, to be honest. My favorite TV show ever award though still goes to Veronica Mars, so I like the problem solving shows
Anyway, back to the episode: I was disappointed that the villain wasn't better considering how afraid of her those two dudes were. Still, I loved the interrogation scenes. I like how unlike Jack Bauer on 24 they're more restrained.

Agreed. There's something strange about her face, but I still think she's pretty.

I think it's not so much that we feel a need to criticize her, as we feel a need to react to the people who are swooning over her, which usually (not always) happens first.

what an astute observation. Personally i never go into any thread and say this or that one is hot etc. however when i see someone say that someone is hot, and i personally cant understand why, i feel since they said she's hot, i have the right to say she's not
no one will ever be universally liked and im sure some do like the 85lb women, but since they displayed their preferences i believe it's ok to display ours too. It's really about equality and perspective, as you've stated so well.

She didn't need to be "better". They knew that she'd pay someone else to kill (or hurt) them if they talked, as they had probably already been directed by her to kill (or seriously hurt) people who got in the way.

I really like Anwar as Fiona. That scene with the kid and the army men was great. She really tries to play both sides of nice and bloodthirsty, and does so really well. The scenes where she's trying to be a good, normal girlfriend or be really supportive are a really nice contrast to when she advocates to kill random people. I think she's even got more depth than Sam, who after the first half dozen episodes has become the classic best buddy.
Anyway, I'm really excited to see where they go with the plot and characters.
