Quick question about tivo2go and replacing a harddrive

So before my series2 finally dies on me, I've decided that I would act first and replace the HD.

Will I be able to save the shows on my HD now, by transferring them to my PC with tivo2go, and then transferring them back to my new HD after its installed?

Is there any quality loss?

Any other problems I might run into?

Thanks for you time.

If only the hard drive is being replaced, the machine will retain the same Media Access Key and will then be able to accept the show back.

There will be no quality loss.

If the original hard drive has developed physical defects on areas where your content is stored, those programs may fail to completely transfer to the pc. There is little that can then be done to recover these if the drive is bad, although I have seen the product "SpinRite" suggested in these cases.

If you use WinMFS to do the upgrade yourself you can copy all of your settings and recordings to the new hard drive.

Another quick question. Do I need to upgrade to tivoplus to be able to send the files back to my new Tivo HD? Didn't think this was the case, but now I'm not sure.

Okay, I've received the new HD (thank you Dvr_Dude from EBAY), and installed it, and have begun transferring shows back to the tivo. Now I have a few other questions.

Probaly too late for this, but was there a way to transfer all of my season pass' to the new HD?

Transferring most hour long shows from the tivo to my PC took about 25 minutes, Is the rate approx the same going back? Is the rate speed determined by the wireless network, or the HD speed?

It says that you can view the shows while they are being transferred, but there might be some pauses..... How viewable are the shows while they are being transferred? Would it be best just to wait til its done?

I read that with Tivo2go plus, you can transfer all the files back in 1 file, rather than individually. true? Are the other features worth the upgrade?

K, sorry for all the questions, but you guys have always been so helpful in the past.

Thank you.
