How to turn swivel search off?

I have a Series 2 (dual tuner) TiVo that recently went through the Fall 2008 update. Now, whenever I pause any TV show, a button appears (I can't remember the exact text) that allows me to do a swivel search for it.

Is there any way to turn this off?

I'll often pause a TV show in order to read the closed captioning or to look at some other detail of the program. I have an older TV and this new feature blocks a big chunk of the screen.

Thanks!

Rumor is that you can call Tivo and turn off swivel search. I have seen conflicting reports whether or not it works to get rid of the screen when you pause. Good luck. In the mean time I think hitting the down arrow will hide it as well as the progress bar.

Press "clear" and the progress bar and swivel search will disappear.

Or press fast forward while paused. It will advance one frame and clear both the button and the progress bar. It is closer to the pause button and easier to use than clear is.

You can also enable fast clearing of the progress bar by pressing down to clear the button while paused and then entering select-play-select-pause-select. If you get it right, you will hear three dings. This will make the button go away very quickly when you pause, but will also prevent the progress bar from showing during fast forward and rewind.

Thanks for all the replies!

Apparently, it's never occurred to me that I should try pressing the down button. I've never noticed the "clear" button before either.

Both options seem to work. Problem solved...

You probably already have swivel search, it's just not on the pause menu.
