Babylon 5, "The Exercise of Vital Powers", S04E16, OAD 6/2/97 *spoilers*
Guide page: http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/countr...guide/082.html
"Mars. I can't believe I'm back on Mars."
- William Edgars is played by Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., Stephanie Zimbalist's father.
- Ah, yes, the unspeaking telepath. It's all in the eyes, you see. And the contract.
- The Russians in 2013? The Iraqis in 2025? It's all Obama's fault!
- The French in 2112? Shouldn't that have been the French CANADIANS, led by Geddy Lee?
- Edgars wants Garibaldi to get Sheridan for him in order to turn him over to Clark.
- They're going to get Sheridan through his father, whom they're going to find thanks to his need for a specialized drug.

Tee hee. But they're marching to Bastille Day; the guillotine will claim her bloody prize. Free the dungeons of the innocent; the king will kneel and let his kingdom rise.

I don't think Garibaldi will be reuniting this one with her long-lost father.
More seriously, was this the last (or only) telepath Edgars will ever have to hire? I can't imagine Bester being blasé about "what, the telepath we sent you this week also fell down an elevator shaft onto some bullets? drat, you have the worst luck, don't you?". Might be hard to get a referral after that.

I'm not sure, but I don't think she made it out of that facility. She probably ended up a testee.

Is Bester in charge of PsiCorp? I thought they (PsiCorp) were angry with him or something. I figured it was a large organization, and based on the "10,000 to 1" comment there must be at least 50,000 - 100,000 telepaths in the US (or equivalent) alone, and close to a million worldwide. That's a large organization, and I wouldn't expect Bester to have anything to do with sending telepaths to Mars given what else he's been up to.

I was just using Bester as an example. Substitute the Psi-Cop Of Your Choice(tm).

No Bester is not in charge of Psi-Corp. He is probably head Psi-Cop however. So he is pretty high in the organization.

Even if he is not the head Psi Cop, he appears to have quite a bit of influence, much like Sheridan has been able to achieve beyond that of a typical Earth Force Captain.
As far as the telepath who was killed is concerned, I thought telepaths were more like independent agents under the authority of the Corp rather than the Corp being involved in renting them out.
If a telepath turned up dead, Psi Cops would be sent to investigate, but it might take time until the Corp realized certain ones were missing. And even then they would need to retrace the telepath's steps in order to figure out if the person was killed, kidnapped, or on the run.
Also, that assumes that nobody in Psi Corp would be trying to cover anything up.

Why are all of these 1+ year old Babylon 5 episodes getting new threads all of a sudden?
Not complaining, and I know I don't have to open them - I'm just curious.

There's been a "re-watch Babylon 5" event going on for the past several months.

Normally I'd say join in the fun, but we're about 3/4 through S4 now. Actually, you can join in the fun, search for Babylon 5, there's a thread for every episode so far, you might be able to catch up before we finish the series.
1+? More like 11+, hehe.

Bester has always seemed like the "J. Edgar Hoover" of Psi-cops (and I don't mean that he wears a dress). He definitely has power far beyond what is normal for his rank.

Now that is an image that I'd like a Psi-Cop to mindwipe.

Agent Erskine, you're a baadddd man.
Zack confused. Why is pretty telepath mad at Zack?
Ok, Sheriden has a plan for the frozen telepaths and whatever it is, it seriously disturbs Franklin.
Edgars is an interesting character. He's not a moustache twirler. He's clearly multifaceted and almost sympathetic. I think a lot of that has to do with the way Efrem Zimbalist Jr. portrays him.
One thing is clear though, not only is Garabaldi still in love with Lise, Lise is still in love with him as well.
And is he really going to betray Sheriden?

Yes, he's got a point-of-view and there is a certain logic to it.
