PPV Questions

I had decided not to purchase any more PPV when the 24 hour life started, but D* gave me three free ones.

Decided to record "Journey to the Center of the Earth".

1. When I tried ordering from my HR20, I got an error message that my network was not functioning. However, I had no problems downloading VOD both before and after the error message. My HR20 is connected by a Linksys WET54G ethernet bridge. Any suggestions?

2. I thought that a PPV movie was supposed to die 24 hours after either ordering or when recording is started. I ordered about 11:15 AM Monday and started recording at 11:30 AM. I am still able to watch the movie at 2:30 PM today (11th). Did I misunderstand the 24 hour thing?

Thanks.

It is 24 hours after you start watching it. I record a bunch of movies off of PPV but only watch them when I know I can watch the whole thing. I don't watch as many movies as a result.

Did you order this PPV with your remote control? Do you have the phone line connected? It's possible that your DVR is still expecting to use a phone connection to report its PPV purchases rather than your network connection.

I first started watching it at about 1:30 PM yesterday. It was still working at 3:15 PM today. So I am still confused.

I don't have a phone line connected. Is there someplace I need to tell it to use the network? The order that worked was done over the internet on their website.

Both Network and Internet pass the test.

You have to call them to enable the Internet ordering. Some CSRs won't know what you're talking about, though.

Thanks, but I'll wait until I have to call about something serious, I'd rather go to the dentist.

BTW, the movie is still working Wed. at 11:15 AM, maybe it will never expire.

Update : 11:AM Thu - Still going.

Because you don't have the phone line connected I am guessing you are still running the older software so you might be right that it won't expire.

Has NOTHING to do with updating software on any of the DVR+ units; phone lines are not needed whatsoever to make these units update...
