Maximum S3 Harddrive size

I tried to search this phrase with no luck.
What is the maximum sized harddrive i can slap into a S3? I have to replace either the main drive or my expander.(Freezes,reboots) so I might as well dump the expander and put in a large drive. I just bought a "green cavier 1tb drive for $129, so if that would work I see no reason to use the expander.

As a side note, will Instant Cake work with that large of a drive?

Largest drive that has been successfully installed on Tivo Series3/HD is a 1TB drive. The 1.5TB drives are not supported yet. I have two TivoHDs running WD 1TB Green, but other folks have reported problems with them.

there is a 2.2TB limit of total space on S1, S2, and S3.... Tivo HD has been upgraded to 2.5, but it's unknown to me what the limit is as I've not done all the reading on it:

edit: I read the discussion and looked in a couple other places and it appears the HD and XL are currently limited to 6.6TB which you would obviously have to do on a couple of RAID devices / create another external port ... or wait for 3+TB drives to come along

also, WinMFS works fine and is free..... there is a step by step guide here http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=370784 in #30 to do what you want to do....

Does anyone know if Instant Cake will work with the "Green" 1tb?
