Sharp LCD volume Series 2 remote code not working
Hi all. I have searched the boards and internet in general for an answer to this to no avail.
I just bought a fairly cheap Sharp LCD 32" HDTV and the remote codes for Volume that my Series 2 Tivo suggests are not working (although the codes for Input and Power are working). I've had this issue with other TVs and have easily found replacement codes online. Not this time.
Anyone know of a code that will work?
Thanks,
Ed

I have had a 37" Sharp HDTV LCD for a couple of years. For some reason the Series 2 remote does not work well with the Sharp TV volume control, whereas the power and input works just fine. I have found the need to bring the TiVo remote closer to the TV to adjust the sound level. I also keep the Sharp remote control handy to change the volume.

Does that mean that the volume code that your Series 2 recommended *does* work (if you're closer to the TV?!?) or do you need to use the Sharp remote? I'm confused.
It seems really odd that there are no other codes that would work for Volume on a Sharp, especially since Input and Power do work. I had issues with the Volume codes on a Samsung LCD, but found a post suggesting I use another code and it worked fine (too bad the TV didn't). Hmmm ...

Yes, the volume does work with the Series 2 remote, but not as responsive as the Sharp controller.

Jack,
Do you remember which of the 10 or so codes that you used? I've tried all of them at least twice and can't get any of them to work, no matter how close I am to the TV.
Thanks,
Ed

Sorry, I do not recall the code. I very vaguely remember it was the first one, but please don't hold me to it.

It seems kind of ridiculous, but I guess my only option (other than cluttering my table with a million remotes) is to get a Universal remote. This may be worthy of a new thread, but does anyone have any suggestions of remotes that work well with Tivo? I've read about the Harmony 880, but I'm a little wary of the mixed reviews. Anyone have good experience with others?

Try resetting the remote:
1. press and hold TIVO/Directv & TV POWER until the light remains on
2. press Thumbs Down 3 times
3. press Enter
Now retry the sharp codes.
If this is a sharp aquos, the backlighting has given many remote owners trouble, try turning it off or down.

Thanks for the suggestion, Edmund, but it doesn't look like that worked either. I tried the thumbs down suggestion and then retried all of the codes ... to no avail.
I don't think the Sharp is an Aquos - from the manual the model number appears to be LC-32SB24U. But just for the sake of trying, I turned backlight all the way down and tried all 9 codes (and the thumbs down x3 + Enter) again. Still no response on the Volume/Mute. Urgh.
