Partial transfers from Tivo DT to PC?!?

Hello everyone -

I just noticed an issue with transferring episodes of Weeds from my Tivo to my PC. It seems that the transfer is only partial.

For instance, tonight's episode shows up in Tivo Desktop as 416MB when I'm selecting shows to transfer, but only 309MB gets transferred to my PC. What's even more strange is that Windows Media Player shows that the file is less than 10 minutes long! It seems like entire scenes from the middle of the show are missing. The start and end are fine! I've checked the Tivo recording and there aren't any glitches from what I can tell -- I've read that can cause problems.

I then looked at older transfers and noticed that this problem first started in August and is only with this show. Is Showtime doing something?

Anyone else have this problem?

That's really weird. The only times I've had issues with transfers were when I was using broadcast NTSC with a poor quality signal-sometimes it would cause it to stop transferring at a point where the signal went to static or got too bad.

I suspect a really bad section on the Tivo's hard drive might do the same, though I don't know.

Otherwise...hmm...I've never had an issue with transferring a relatively cleanly recorded show (shows had to be really bad for it to mess up...it's like the Tivo itself can handle playing it back, but can't transfer it right, or something). So I haven't had a single screwed up transfer since I got "free" basic cable two years back ("free" because my cable internet service was the same price with or without basic cable). (Completely unrelated to anything, but I switched to much, much, much cheaper DSL, and am thinking of ditching the basic cable again...sooooo glad I switched.)
