Merge DVR expander+stock drive to one large internal drive?

So I'm one of the (few?) people that are having issues with the expander after the latest software update. The general consensus seems to be that the expander is just a bad idea (2 points of failure).

Is there any way to take all the data on both HDs and merge them into a new large image to put on a replacement internal drive? I'd really like to keep my recordings.

I am no expert but from what I have been reading the last few weeks on these forums I am pretty sure that can not be done. I could be wrong and somebody else my reply with better news for you.

One way is to copy the TiVo contents to a PC or multiple PCs or Macs using TTG and then use TTCB to restore to the larger disk. Slow process but it works if you have a lot of PC disk capacity unless the recordings are coded no-copy by your cable company.

My tivo hangs at boot-- and although I can access the tivo webserver, the TTG software won't connect.

I just called Weaknees about this exact issue (I live not too far from their offices), and they claim this can now be done. I didn't ask what process/software they would use, but they offered to install my new 1tb WD drive and copy all the programs from both my old OEM S3 internal drive and my married My DVR drive for only $79!

You can still download using the web browser. There's a download link for each show in the NPL. Big pain in the a$$ if you have a bunch of shows though.
