blue man group aka abc world news webcast
Does anyone else download the abc world news webcast through their Tivo?
Do you get blue people too. Skin tones on people are always very blue. Anyone know why?
I rarely watch it. I only download it because it's daily and I wanted a reliable daily webcast so that I know when my pc stops making its connecton and I have to relink it to my account.

I know it's not just that tivo, this happens on both my 540 and my dual tuner and it's not my TV.

Kind of reminds me of "Lathe of Heaven" except blue instead of gray.
I, too, have never seen the problem the OP has but I do not use TiVocasts at all but it makes little sense as the stream is digital and I would believe the only place it can screw up is during the encoding or on the decoding and I duobt that the encoding is bad as that would be caught quickly.

Start by checking out the codecs on the computer with TiVo Desktop that is converting this for you. Download the webcast manually and see if it is blue in WMP or Quicktime. If it is, that might provide some clues.

I've done that, it looks normal when I download it to my pc and all other webcasts on my Tivo look like they should.
Now I've linked my laptop to my account and chose to download yesterdays abc world news ep. so I'll see if that makes a difference.

Make sure you try them in quicktime, not WMP.

Still blue when downloaded through my XP laptop. I don't think I mentioned that my other pc is using Vista.
With quicktime, it looks normal on both the XP and Vista machines

*With quicktime*? I'm confused, is this a 'raw' download, or was a conversion done.
You can't play Tivo downloads on a Mac, with Quicktime Player. I know you said you were on XP and Vista. This would be highly unusual if you can on a PC... though possibly Quicktime
is seeing them as 'unsupported' and using some UNDERLYING OS support?
(I can _play_ them on a Mac with mPlayer, and I think VLC.. but haven't figured out anything to -edit- them with.)

When I said "it looks normal when I download it to my pc" I was referring to downloading the webcast from the site, not transferring it from my Tivo which isn't even possible. This is one of those Tivo downloads that uses a pc to get to the Tivo, but never resides on the PC.

As long as they were born here and are at least 35 years old.

If you still have the manually downloaded file, can you put it in an auto transfer folder and see how TiVo Desktop handles it. If it isn't blue, then the I suspect the manual file is not the same one TiVo Desktop is getting automatically. If that is the case I would let TiVo desktop fetch a blue file again, and then copy the file to safety while TiVo desktop is converting it, before it finishes and erases the file, and see how it looks on the PC. Maybe it is fetching from a different source.
If the folder auto transfer is blue, then somehow or other TiVo Desktop or the TiVo are the suspects.

That is what I came here to comment on. The video looks fine with WMP, VLC, and Quicktime on my pc. When that same download is transferred to my 540 or 649 Tivo, it's blue.
